Chitungwiza-born hip-hop artist Marshall “Sharky” Muchenje is finally releasing his debut studio album this Saturday and as #TeamWeLoveThings, we are going to be there when it all goes down.

The announcement was made via a tweet and a Facebook status update about a month ago.

Sharky has been dropping a string of singles and blessings with numerous songs with stellar guest verses, it’s only right that the boy who reps the monkey totem finally delivers a full-length project to the people who have been following his journey since he started out rapping professionally in 2013.

He recently was in Senegal to perform at the Festa2H in Dakar.

Festah2H is one of the biggest hip hop festivals in West Africa bringing together international artists from Senegal, France, USA, Mauritania, Spain, Germany, Gambia, Belgium, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Mali, Canada, and Sweden and more countries including Zimbabwe which was represented by Sharky.

He returned to Zimbabwe on the 30th of May to carry on with preparations for his album launch.

On his experience in Dakar, Sharky says “I really felt at home in a place where hip-hop is respected so much and where the people actually live the culture.”

“My performance was fun, they really showed me love even though they didn’t even understand Shona but they all seemed to enjoy themselves.

“I really hope to do more international performances, it really opened up my eyes and widened the scope of my ambition.”

When trying to decide what name to give this project, Sharky took to Twitter and Facebook and asked people to help him out.“SokoMatemai” came out tops on all the suggestions.

The title track for the album happens to have Sharky’s one and only music video so far. The video was aired on DSTV on Zambezi Magic’s “Zim Top 10” music chart show for over 6weeks, even topping the chart for 3 weeks straight and has also been aired on ZBC TV.

The tracklist for “SokoMatemai” hasn’t been revealed as yet but we got an exclusive listen and it was FIRE.
