Poor Mafikizolo Failed To Sendekera

As if odds had not been defied yet, the HICC was almost reaching its capacity. The general populace was spending its hard earned cash to support Jah Prayzah and his fellow collaborators at a hard time to spend money on entertainment.

Even the VIP filled up with everyone expecting a dose of entertainment from the star quality that was headlining the show.

In what looked like a mere lack of seriousness from the Mafikizolo band, its set kept getting cut as the music stopped.

This started as they were performing the title track for the concert, Sendekera.  People started trickling out of the venue at this moment despite continued efforts by the South African duo to try and facelift their act.

Their lip syncing did not make it any better. Is this a Sean Kingston moment, when foreign acts don’t put any energy into giving the crowd value for their money.

Local Supporting Acts

Local acts made this a better night by following the band format. Ngonie Kambarami and Alexio Kawara proved why they are still surviving even after the death of a genre they were said to solely belong to. Songstress Cindy Munyavi’s act could have been more electric had she used a live band.

Jah Prayzah

As usual, the leader of the Military Touch Movement lived up to his hype. He brought the house down belting all the hits still making waves in the airwaves including his collaboration with Diamond Platinumz that he performed with a band member.

It was a bit worrying when the only MTM member to support him during the Chekeche performance was Nutty O, who gave a spirited performance to a lukewarm reception from the people.

It was basically a #ToraMariUnited day for Jah as he managed to pull off this feat at a time children were about to return to schools. Somebody say school fees?!

And the night belonged to Andy Muridzo

The ‘whistle-guy’ as he is affectionately called by his fans was the highlight of the night. Baba Keketso is one artist who is vocally talented. This guy pulled off a feat some dancehall artists cannot achieve.

The singer managed to pull off the whole Cold Heart Riddim medley imitating each artist’s voice. He did not stop there.

He brought it home with tunes by Kinnah, Seh Calaz, Ras Caleb, Hwindi President and Soul Jah Love! This was however iced with an unforgettable mbira display.

This young artist might not have broken the market yet but it is not an undisputed fact that he has made his presence known. And he is coming for the crown.
