The 22-year-old became the first female to win the People’s Choice award that had become a domain of male rappers for five years.

The first People’s choice award (2011) which was presented by the then reigning Miss Universe-Zimbabweabwe, Lisa Morgan went to P.O.Y.

The following year (2012) it went to Stunner, who happens to be the only rapper to have won it twice, picking it up again in 2016.

Other winners were Mudiwa (2013) Tricky J (2014) and T Gonz in 2015.

Kikky also bagged the Best Female award in a year that she has put in a lot of work collaborating with Nigerian rapper and songwriter Ycee together with A-list producer Wizzypro.

Her debut album Queen of the South carrying 13 tracks presents a very fearless yet innovative project for modern hip-hop, The Album draws the line in the sand as Kikky separates herself from her contemporaries by creating her own runway.
