Zimbabwe clinch T20I series

Zimbabwe clinched the series 2-1 after beating Ireland by 4 wickets in a nail-biting match which went to the wire.

The host rang some changes to their team, Tony Munyonga came in for injured Sean Williams, While Luke Jongwe replaced Brad Evans.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in conditions favouring the team bowling first.

The Chevrons were right on the money with the ball right from the first over, with almost all the bowlers contributing to the wickets tally.

Wessly Madhevere, Tendai Chatara, Jongwe and Ryan Burl all took 2 wickets each as they restricted Ireland to 141 runs for 9.

The 4th wicket partnership for Ireland of Harry Tector and Curtis Campher put up some resistance scoring 70 runs. Tector top scoring with 47 runs.

Chevron’s top-order batting woes continued as Tadiwanashe Marumani fell for 5 runs and Madhevere for 2 runs respectively.

Innocent Kaia seemed to be in good knick but his cameo came to an end when he was caught by Mark Adair of the bowling of Tector just for 23 runs.

Craig Ervine stirred the ship with a captains knock of 54 runs

Burl, named man of the match, took the Chevrons home scoring 30 runs of 11 balls.
