Delta Corporation Limited held a Bursary Induction event Wednesday morning where academically gifted students from across the country received scholarships.
This initiative aims to support less fortunate individuals, demonstrating the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
Among the inspiring stories shared today is that of Munashe Mawoko, a student at Emmanuel High School in Nyanga, who has a spinal deformity but exemplifies the belief that determination and talent can overcome any obstacle.
Munashe achieved 12 As at Ordinary Level, proving that academic brilliance knows no bounds.
Her mother, also a teacher, expressed joy at the opportunities provided to her daughter through the Delta Corporation Bursary program.
“I noticed that my child had a disability when she was about nine months old, but as she grew to school age, her disability did not affect her performance in school. In Grade 7, I was her teacher, and she achieved 8 units,” said Mrs. Mawoko.
“I’m glad that my daughter is a recipient of the bursary. I thank Delta Corporation for their non-discriminatory policy, and I encourage other parents to continue supporting their children, because disability is not inability.”

Norest Chigombe from Bindura took educational matters into his own hands as soon as he finished his Ordinary Levels.
“When I was doing my Ordinary Level, the school administration helped me with the registration fee. But soon after my last exam, I realised that to advance to A Level, I needed to take action, so I returned and asked to work at the school doing maintenance work to pay my fees,” said Norest.
He worked at the school from November to January, fixing broken furniture and maintaining the grounds and garden.
“On the opening day of school, the headmaster informed me that I could apply for a Delta Corporation Bursary.
“I had achieved 7 As and 3 Bs, and since I had been working at the school, they managed to provide me with all the required uniforms. After a short period, my application was accepted.”

One beneficiary, Lynn Maglas, a student from Kwenda High School in Hwedza, is currently in her lower six and achieved 7 As and 4 Bs at Ordinary Level.
“I feel motivated and encouraged by this program, as it has helped many people, especially the less privileged. I would like to thank Delta Corporation for offering these scholarships, and I hope this program continues for a long time,” she said.
Wellington Shoniwa, the father of bursary recipient Mufaro Shoniwa, who is a STEM student, believes that the Delta Corporation Scholarships play an equalising role in society.
“This program is very helpful; it helps children achieve their dreams despite coming from less fortunate households.
“What Delta Corporation is doing ensures that academically gifted children have an equal footing in life, regardless of their financial backgrounds,” said Mr. Shoniwa, whose daughter attained 8 As, 3 Bs, and 1 C.
Addressing the families and students who are recipients of the 2025 Delta Corporation Limited Bursary, Delta General Manager Corporate Affairs Patricia Murambinda said her organisation was committed to investing in education.
“At Delta, we believe that education is the foundation of a brighter future—not just for individuals but for communities and the nation at large. That is why we remain committed to investing in young, talented individuals like you, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, perseverance, and potential,” said Murambinda
“This bursary is more than just financial support; it is a partnership between you and Delta Corporation. We are investing in your dreams because we believe that your success will contribute to the growth and development of our society.
“We trust that you will use this opportunity to excel in your studies and develop the skills necessary to become leaders in your respective fields.”
She emphasized the need for students to remain disciplined and uphold integrity especially in these times where young people are indulging in social ills.
“As you embark on this academic journey, I encourage you to work hard, remain disciplined, and uphold the values of excellence, integrity, and innovation.
“These are the same principles that drive us at Delta Corporation. Remember, challenges will arise, but your determination and resilience will define your path to success,” she added.
