Ster-Kinekor Cinema at Westgate will tonight go dark permanently bringing to an end a memorable movie journey the theatres have provided over the years.
This is as a result of the termination of the agreement between Ster-Kinekor and the shopping centre.
In a statement, the management said the cinema complex at the Westgate Shopping Centre in Harare, Zimbabwe, will close, with the final day of trading at this site on Thursday, 27 April 2017.
CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres Wanda Matandela said the development was unfortunate.
“While it is unfortunate that the Ster-Kinekor complex at this site at Westgate centre will close at the end of April, cinema-goers in Harare can still catch all the latest blockbusters that are released on the big screen at our other two popular venues in the city.”
This leaves movie lovers with two options, Sam Levy’s Village or Eastgate Mall in the city, both of which boast seven, state-of-the-art digital cinemas.
