The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (Z.A.A) stepped up its programme this year by honouring community pioneers and legends in the UK at a ceremony held at the Cumberland hotel in London on Saturday.
Individuals who were recognised as legends or pioneers included Ezra Sibanda, renowned broadcaster and community organiser; Marshall Gore, for his contribution in sports and community development.
Billy Katiyo for his involvement in charitable causes, Lastone H Mliswa for pioneering work in film industry and arts.
Wellington Tafirenyika for services in music and arts, Tawanda Sibotshiwe for creative entrepreneurship as a music producer, Kisset Chirengende, the face behind Kyros Sports, a sports consulting company and Alfred Munhenga
“It is high time we look back and take note of our own heroes and heroines in the prestigious and unique journey of the awards,” said ZAA Chairman Conrad Mwanza.”
There was also recipients of the Chairman’s Honorary Awards which included Dr Ian Chikanza and Doug Munatsi who have both made significant contributions to the charity and business sectors.
Fikelephi Jackson and Lettie Chimbi for their charity work and Pastor Jide David Modede, a Friend of Zimbabwe, for his contribution to Charitable Causes focus to Zimbabwe.
The annual event brings together business leaders from all sectors, government officials, diplomats, civil society representatives from NGO’s, heads of finance & trade and the international press.
