Ninja Lipsy reveals Struggle with Major Health Issue

Dancehall singer cum Rapper, Ninja Lipsy has for the first time, publicly revealed her struggles with a major health issue that has haunted her for years.

Sharing the news with her thousands of followers on Instagram, the beau shared that she had epilepsy.

She said he had hidden it for years as she felt ashamed of it. She decided to share the ordeal in her native Shona language. Below we translate it to english.

“Yes I have epilepsy and I have been hiding it for a very long time because I thought it as embarrassing,” she said.

“I have had people who left me because they too thought it was a shame to associate with someone in my condition but I have forgiven them because they don’t have knowledge or understanding of what epilepsy is, they don’t know what to do when one is having a seizure.”

She went on to say that there is a misconception that epileptic people are demon possessed.

Epilepsy is something that society tends to shove under the rug and treat as less important than other things, even though it is a struggle faced by many.

Epilepsy is a chronic disorder, the hallmark of which is recurrent, unprovoked seizures.

A person is diagnosed with epilepsy if they have two unprovoked seizures (or one unprovoked seizure with the likelihood of more) that were not caused by some known and reversible medical condition like alcohol withdrawal or extremely low blood sugar.

The seizures in epilepsy may be related to a brain injury or a family tendency, but often the cause is completely unknown.

Many people with epilepsy have more than one type of seizure and may have other symptoms of neurological problems as well.

Lipsy said she was not aware how she got the chronic illness.

“I don’t know whether I was born with it or I got it as I grew up, but what I know is that I have seen a lot,” she said.

She also sad that she has been frowned upon by society because of her epileptic condition.

“Let’s not discriminate epileptic patients, instead let’s learn more about the disease so that we can know how to help them, and to those who are suffering fro it, speak out so that you can be assisted,” she ended.
