How you can earn a Free Ticket to see Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran live in South Africa

International advocacy organisation Global Citizen officially announced last Monday that Beyoncé and Jay-Z will headline the first Global Citizen Festival to be held in Africa on Sunday, 2 December 2018 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The Global Citizen Festival is a free, ticketed concert that brings together musicians, world leaders, and global citizens in an effort to influence positive change on a global scale.

The event will be hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Naomi Campbell, Gayle King, Bob Geldof, Tyler Perry and Forest Whitaker.

Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher and Wizkid will also perform at the event.

Below are instruction from The Global Citizen on how to earn a free ticket

How to Take Action With Global Citizen

Actions take a few different shapes and happen in different places.

1.) You can take action on the Global Citizen website and in our mobile app. These actions can be things like sending tweets, signing petitions, or sending an email to express your support for a particular issue, like more funding for girls education, or making sure more people have access to clean drinking water.

2.) Facebook Messenger: For the first time ever, Global Citizens can take action using a Facebook Messenger bot; these actions are similar to the ones on our site but are designed for phones with Facebook Messenger Lite.

3.) Days of Action: If you prefer to take action in person, we’ll have several Days of Action in Johannesburg in the run-up to the festival. You can join other Global Citizens in a community service project.

Getting Free Tickets

Global Citizen will hold four action journeys between now and the festival in December. In each action journey, there will be 8 to 10 actions you can choose between. Each action earns you a certain number of Festival points.

Once you have earned enough Festival points by taking action, you’ll be entered into the raffle to get your free pair (2) of tickets.

We’ll announce when the draws are happening, and let winners know if they’ve won the next day. We’ll be communicating the points you need to earn and the dates of the draws to everyone who signs up here .

If you didn’t win a ticket, you can still take more actions in the next action journey, which starts the next day, and then enter to win tickets again. More than 70,000 tickets will be given away for free in this method.

The Issues — What Are We Taking Action On?

Global Citizens in Africa and around the world are calling on world leaders to make commitments to empower people in extreme poverty. This includes:

  • Ensure people don’t suffer needlessly from preventable diseases;
  • Give every child access to a quality education;
  • Eradicate laws that hold girls and women back;
  • Make sure all people have access to enough nutritious food;
  • Ensure everyone has access to clean drinking water.

Can non-SA residents participate?

Yes, but you must be able to attend the festival to participate. We want to make sure tickets are going to people who can be there on 2 December at FNB Stadium.

What do I do between now and 21 Aug?

If you sign up via the email field on globalcitizen.org.za or via Facebook Messenger before 21 August, you will have a chance to earn bonus points before the rest, by referring your friends and family.

These bonus points can be applied to the draw which opens 21 August. Global Citizens will also have the exclusive opportunity to enter into special rewards for premium tickets to the Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 by taking action.
