Coke Studio Africa 2019 to Air on TV in Zimbabwe Starting this Saturday

The much anticipated season of ‘Coke Studio Africa 2019’ is set to air on TV in Zimbabwe and across Africa starting February 9, 2019.

Featuring for the first time on the show are Zimdancehall heavyweight Winky D and and young rising singer Tamy Moyo.

Winky D will be featuring on the show for the first time paired alongside celebrated Mozambican singer Messias with production from Nigerian record producer, GospelOnDaBeatz.

Known for his own unique and captivating twist on reggae, dub, dancehall and afro-pop jams, Winky D also popularly known as Gafa, has managed to keep music lovers on their feet with his catchy music for over a decade now.

With his hits like “Disappear” having topped the BBC 1Xtra show, Winky D has stamped his authority as a leading voice to Zimdancehall.

Speaking on his debut on Coke Studio AfricaWinky D said, “It’s really a great experience, I get to meet and exchange ideas with people from different backgrounds, genres, cultures and vibe.

Coke Studio Africa is a good platform for the interaction and integration of different music industries in Africa; I also learnt how the different music fraternities are faring in their regions.’’

Tamy Moyo continues her impressive run, shutting ceilings to become arguably,Zimbabwe’s hottest female artist at the moment and fast making forays across Africa.

With one album already under her belt titled “The 18th Roller Coaster”, the 20-year-old afro popvocalist is set to deliver her star power and vocal prowess when the new season premieres. She’s paired with LourenaNhate from Mozambique and Abush Zeleke of Ethiopia.

The track that the pair will collaborate on, will be produced by Ugandan prolific producer Daddy Andre. Speaking on her debut encounter on the show Tamy noted ‘’Coke Studio has been an amazing platform for me.

I got to learn more about the industry. I had a chance to meet interesting people as well and I definitely hope that this opportunity is definitely going to grow my career and my audience.

Working with many creatives with different perspectives and backgrounds under one roof taught me patience, endurance and most of all tolerance’’.

Other Southern African artists set to feature on the show include celebrated top African rappers: Laylizzy (Mozambique) and Chef 187 (Zambia), acclaimed diva Shellsy Baronet (Mozambique),

Award-winningg singer Lourena Nhate (Mozambique), fast rising femcee Lioness (Namibia) and highflying rapper Boity (South Africa).

Starting this Feb, watch the new season of Coke Studio Africa on ZBC TV every Saturday at 7 PM.
