The Prince Edward rugby team the Tigers, got a new kit for the 2022 season which came as a boost with the Derby Day Schools tournament currently happening at St Johns College in Harare.
The new playing kit came from Steel Centre with shorts being donated by old boy John Falkernberg
Thaton Properties, Maestro, Evitro, Ben Nyaumwe, Consha Enterprise and Shasha Gomez, came forward with the tracksuit.
PE old boys Class of 96’ sponsored Rugby balls and Rugby ball bags.
Prince Edward School head coach, Shaun De Souza said that the gesture by the sponsors is welcome as the school is resetting especially after three years without school sports.
De Souza, “The sponsorship is very much appreciated we have had no sport for three years as we conformed to government regulations. We basically started from zero we are grateful and appreciate Steel Centre Thanton properties Consha Enterprise and the PE Old boys class ‘96 for this gesture we can now try and build towards our 125th anniversary next year as the school achieves a great millstone.
PE Sports Director, Tawanda Jimu echoed the same sentiments adding that the kit will boost the boys as they head into battle against St John’s College.
Jimu said, “Firstly, as PE we are so grateful to our sponsors. This will go a long way for PE rugby, this sponsorship is going towards the building of a livelihood for the boys their passion and zeal is to play professional rugby and it begins with such partners coming to make the dream come true.
This is a big booster for the Johns game tomorrow, new kit raises confidence to the lads.”
The Prince Edward Tigers will play against St John’s Rams at 1600 today Tuesday, April 26, and will then clash with bitter rivals Churchill Bulldogs on Saturday at 1440.
All games will be played at St John’s College.
