My Zim Plate host Bernadette spreads love and treats at MultiChoice meet-and-greet

All the love and fun of Valentine’s Day surrounded a meet-and-greet hosted by MultiChoice Zimbabwe on Tuesday when My Zim Plate host Bernadette Mutangara dispensed chocolates and other treats for fans.

My Zim Plate is a new series on DStv’s Honey channel in which Bernadette introduces viewers across Africa to the culinary delights of Zimbabwe, and the meet-and-greet enabled people to find out more about the show, which launched earlier this month.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicity and public relations manager Liz Dziva said people were thrilled by the treats and the interaction with the TV host, with a strong interest in the show and its presenter.

“As it was Valentine’s Day we had a meet-and-greet at our offices in the PaSangano building in Avondale and at the Joina City Mall in the Harare CBD, so we invited Bernadette to offer delicacies from a chocolate fountain, as well as fruit and other sweet treats,” she said.

“During this delightful engagement, she promoted the show and many people were able to get to know her better. Our customers loved the Valentine’s treat and we had a lot of positive feedback.

Bernadette has been interested in food since she was 10 when she started baking and doing other forms of cooking.

Born and brought up in Kwekwe, her older sister, mother and grandmother taught her all about the ins and outs of cooking, and she used to cater for a range of family events.

In the past five years, she has launched and developed a cake-making business called Munchies and Melodies, providing not just baked goodies and other culinary treats but also live entertainment, as she is a singer.

She is self-taught but has as much talent and energy as any trained chef and she sees no limit to where she can take her skills and interest. Her favourite food is sushi, while her favourite Zimbabwean dish is sadza rezviyo and tsine.

Bernadette is an excellent DStv fan, so the chance to present a show on DStv’s Honey channel thrilled her hugely.

Her own favourite shows include 7 Colours, My Perfect Wedding, Date My Family and Hudson and Rex.

My Zim Plate is running at present on the Honey Channel and is a dedicated show in which the focus is on food from Zimbabwe, with its unique ingredients, styles and preparation features of our cuisine will provide culinary thrills to viewers who really enjoy the cooking entertainment genre.”

The Honey Channel is on DStv channel 173 and features a wide range of lifestyle topics of interest to a range of viewer targets. It is available to viewers with DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact bouquets.
