The 2023 Star FM Listener’s Choice Music Awards took place last night, and it was a virtual event that saw some of Zimbabwe’s most talented musicians being recognised and celebrated for their outstanding work in the music industry.
The biggest winners of the night were Freeman HKD, and Leo Magozz who scooped three awards each followed by Feli Nandi who bagged two awards.
Freeman HKD was named the Best Male Artist of the year, his album “David and Goliath” won Album of the Year, and his song “Vakomana Ve Drip” was named the Best Zimdancehall Song.
Leo Magozz’s hit track “Fire Emoji” won Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop Song, and Best Collaboration.
Feli Nandi, on the other hand, won the Best Alternative award and was named the Best Female Artist of the year.
Other notable winners of the night included Saintfloew, who won Best Newcomer, Minister Michael Mahendere’s “Tangai Neni,” which was named the Best Gospel Song, and Alick Macheso’s “Tinosvitswa Nashe,” which won the Best Sungura Artist award.
The event also saw the Lifetime Achievement Award being presented to Patson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the music industry in Zimbabwe.
