“Match Officials Frustrated Us” – Pirates

Chegutu Head coach Day Gutu has accused the match officials of frustrating his team in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Heart Stadium on Saturday.

Gutu made the claims after a delayed kick-off against hosts Yadah where Pirates were made to wear an alternative kit, resulting in a kickoff delay of almost 30 minutes.

“Those who are supposed to protect us frustrated us before the match,” he claimed.

Gutu believes the kit they intended to wear was suitable for the game despite it clashing with Yadah FC’s colours.

The match which ended in a nil-all draw saw Yadah registering the first shot of the game inside the first minute through Blessed Ndereki.

Ten minutes later Chegutu Pirates broke out in midfield and hit a shot that didn’t look dangerous but the Yadah goalie, not sure about the strike, punched it over the bar.

Both teams continued to enjoy sharing the ball but with no goal in sight.

Just before half time Pirates had a chance from a dangerous free kick which was punched away by Marshal Takarinda.

In the 50th minute Yadah made a double substitution which ushered in Khama Billiat who was returning from injury.

His combination and understanding with King Nadolo was almost instant with Billiat creating a lot of movement in dangerous places but the goal remained elusive.
