Khama brace guides Yadah to victory over Chicken Inn

The Chicken Inn and Yadah football match was delayed for more than 10 minutes as Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas ordered his players to vacate the pitch in protest against a penalty given to Yadah.

This happened after Evans Rusike was fouled in the 42nd minute and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

This would be Yadah FC’s second penalty of the match after Khama Billiat had already earned a penalty in the 8th minute after a handball by a Chicken Inn player.

Although the penalty looked clear, Chicken Inn protested the decision but assistant coach Fungai Kwashi stepped in and calmed the senior coach, ordering players to resume play.

A conversation between Joey Antipas and Khama Billiat also took place before the Chicken Inn manager calmed down and allowed his players to return to the pitch.

He also had a brief chat with the Yadah coach Ruzive.

Play then resumed in the 54th minute and Khama converted for his second goal of the afternoon, sending Donovan Bernard the wrong way.

Yadah kicked off the match with good passing, starving Chicken Inn of possession and the pressure resulted in an 8th minute penalty which Billiat converted.

Former Warriors player Danny Phiri then received a straight red card in the 12th minute after a high boot challenge on Ndereki.

This weakened Chicken Inn’s midfield as Khama and Rusike’s combinations troubled the visitors.

Yadah almost scored in the 30th minute but Rusike’s shot was saved by Chicken Inn goalkeeper Bernard Donovan.

The second half resumed with Khama looking to complete his hat-trick, and he almost got his third but his free-kick hit the woodwork 3 minutes into the second half.

Yadah continued their offensive play and hit the upright again moments later.

Chicken Inn then wrestled control back from Yadah and were rewarded with a goal in the 64th minute through substitute Rendo Brendon.

Despite being a man down, Chicken Inn’s experience showed as they started enjoying some fair possession.

The match ended in a nervy moment as Yadah came under pressure from Chicken Inn who were seeking an equaliser.

Chicken Inn Assistant coach told reporters after the game that he envisioned what had taken place and he had pre-warned his players during his team talk.

“I was expecting what happened today, I knew it,” he said as he expressed his displeasure at the match officials.

“I know this trap, I was waiting for this trap.”
