The penultimate provincial finals of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival took place in Chinhoyi over the weekend at Yolanda Bar.
The festival, which kicked off in May and crowns a winner in each province, saw the mhande dance ensemble Budiriro Arts emerging as the winner in Mashonaland West Province.
Nyau dancers once again secured podium finishes, with Zambia Nyau Chabvindoka Nyau taking second place and Garawabika Gure Club with Malawi Nyau in third.
The intense competition saw the winners walk away with cash prizes of USD 2,500, USD 1,500, and USD 1,000 for first, second, and third place, respectively.
Bulawayo Province will hold the last provincial finals next Saturday, after which the focus will shift to the grand national finals taking place in Masvingo on July 27.
Under the theme “Tamba Tione, Gida Sibone!” the festival has provided dance enthusiasts and culture lovers with a vibrant display of traditional dances from all corners of the country.
