The country’s biggest cup competition, the Chibuku Super Cup, kicks off next Wednesday with two preliminary round matches featuring the four bottom-placed teams on the log standings: Telone, Chegutu Pirates, Arenel Movers, and Hwange.
These matches will be played at Mandava Stadium.
The winners of these preliminary fixtures will join the fourteen top-placed teams in the first round of the tournament.
This year’s prize package totals $350,000, to be shared among the participating teams. The Chibuku Super Cup winners will pocket $75,000, while the runners-up will receive $50,000.
The remaining funds will be distributed among the other sixteen teams based on their final positions.
However, defending champions Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum will have their fixtures delayed as they participate in CAF tournaments.
Dynamos will play Zambia’s ZESCO United in Gaborone, Botswana, in the CAF Confederation Cup on the same weekend the Chibuku Super Cup’s Round of 16 begins.
Similarly, league champions Ngezi Platinum will face Maniema of DR Congo in Lusaka, Zambia, in the CAF Champions League tournament that weekend.
