Warriors coach Michael Nees has confirmed that Marvellous Nakamba and Marshall Munetsi will continue as captain and vice-captain of the senior national team, despite the return of former skipper Knowledge Musona.
He was speaking during a press conference where he announced the final squad to face Benin and Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
Nees also praised the humility of returning former captain Knowledge Musona, who did not make any demands.
“On his return, Musona didn’t make any requests or demands, that shows the type of person he is,” Nees said.
Nees also revealed that Musona was ready to return in November of last year.
However, considering the team’s situation regarding AFCON qualification, he did not want to impose himself and potentially destabilize the team, which caused the delay.
Since Michael Nees became the Warriors’ coach, he has successfully brought Khama Billiat, Washington Arubi, and Knowledge Musona out of retirement.
