Ngezi Platinum Stars Hand Scottland FC Reality Check, MWOS Tops Castle Lager PSL

Ngezi Platinum Stars proved that experience and tactical prowess are key in the Castle Lager PSL, as they handed Scottland FC a humbling 1-0 defeat on Friday.

The match, decided by a penalty from Ngezi captain Kudzai Chigwida, served as a reality check for Scottland FC, who had been riding high after their impressive victory over Caps United in their previous outing.

Scottland FC, still in their debut season, will need to regroup quickly if they hope to maintain their early momentum.

Elsewhere, Dynamos’ struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by TelOne at Rufaro Stadium.

Despite taking the lead, Dynamos failed to capitalise on their advantage, leaving coach Lloyd Chigowe frustrated.

Chigowe told the media after the game that they will try and use the international break to sharpen their game and address their weaknesses.

In Chisumbanje, Greenfuel staged a remarkable comeback to salvage a 2-2 draw against Highlanders.

Ronald Chitiyo, who joined Greenfuel from Malawi at the start of the season, scored his first goal for the club, helping his team recover from a two-goal deficit.

The result exposed Highlanders’ inability to close out games.

Meanwhile, MWOS FC, one of the league’s newcomers, continued to impress as they climbed to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Yadah at Baobab Stadium.

Despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half, MWOS showed remarkable grit, with goals from Billy Vheremu and Wilson Mensah securing the win.

The victory took MWOS to seven points, making them the early league leaders.

Other results from Saturday’s fixtures included a 1-1 draw between Chicken Inn and FC Platinum, a 1-0 win for Simba Bhora over Herentals, and a narrow 1-0 victory for Kwekwe United against Bikita Minerals.
