Former House of Assembly member and fitness enthusiast Temba Mliswa has called for the establishment of a Heroes’ Acre dedicated to honouring outstanding sports personalities.
Mliswa was speaking to Zimbuzz on the sidelines of the funeral procession of popular fitness instructor and martial arts trainer, Sensei Mugove Muhambi.
Sensei Mugove Muhambi tragically died on Saturday morning in a fatal head-on collision along Borrowdale Road in Harare.
The decorated sports personality was laid to rest in Epworth, where thousands of mourners, including government officials, gathered to pay their last respects.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona—who is also a karate Sensei—spoke emotionally about beginning his martial arts journey with the late Sensei Mugo during their youth.
Also among the distinguished mourners were Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture Minister Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe, Deputy Minister Emily Jesaya, and Finance and Economic Development Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga.
