Simba Bhora reclaimed top spot in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after new signing Tapiwa Mandinyenya struck a dramatic late winner to seal a 1-0 victory over MWOS on Saturday.
Mandinyenya, a mid-season addition to Joel Luphahla’s squad, rose highest in stoppage time to power home a header from a corner, earning Simba a valuable three points in a tense encounter.
The result lifts the defending champions to 50 points, one clear of second-placed Scottland FC, who briefly went top following their win on Friday.
For MWOS, the defeat continued a miserable run of form. After spending much of the early season at the summit, they have now gone six games without a win, sliding to third place on 42 points, eight adrift of Simba.
Their winless streak includes damaging defeats to Yadah, FC Platinum, Dynamos and now Simba, along with draws against ZPC Kariba and Herentals.
At the other end of the table, MWOS fans are left scratching their heads at a side that once looked like strong title contenders but now appear short of confidence and momentum.
Elsewhere in the league, Ngezi Platinum were held to a 1-1 draw by Bikita Minerals at Baobab Stadium, Chicken Inn and Manica Diamonds played out a goalless stalemate, while Herentals Students edged Greenfuel 1-0.
