Businessman and Zanu PF Mabvuku/Tafara legislator Pedzisayi ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya has been registered to play in the Northern Region Soccer League this season.

According to an article in the Northern Times 44-year-old Sakupwanya, who owns newcomers Scottland FC after purchasing the franchise of Mabvuku FC said he would want to help his team settle well in the Northern Region Soccer League after joining the league this season.

“My goal is to inspire and motivate my players to achieve great things in life,” Sakupwanya told Northern Times.

“I believe that we can do it and I am excited to be part of the action.”

Sakupwanya who plays as a striker said he is in good shape to play in the Northern Region Soccer League as he has been training for some time so that he can compete in the league.

“I have been an active football player before so it’s not going to be much of a problem. I might not have been playing for a number of years but all these years I have been heavily involved in football.

“I really want to motivate my players by showing them that I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty,” Northern Times quoted the Legislator.

Sakupwanya who has been involved in football in his constituency in Mabvuku/Tafara sponsoring grassroots programs will become the second businessman and legislator after Herentals owner Innocent Benza to play in the local professional league.

Scottland FC is coached by William Nyasulu and has recently signed former Dynamos midfielder Denver Mukamba.

The Division One team also have former Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya in their books.

Scotland FC have so far played 3 games and have won their first two, and recently tasted their first defeat on Saturday away to Banket United.

They are back in action on Wednesday against Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 at The Heart Stadium.
