Kenya dash Junior Sables Barthes three-peat Dream

Kenya booked their place at the next Junior World trophy tournament to be held in Scotland in July with an emphatic 28-13 win over Zimbabwe at the Machinery  Exchange Stadium at Harare Sports Club.

Junior Sables managed to dominate early exchanges with two quick unconverted tries by Emanuel Gabi and Edward Sigauke racing into a 10-00.

They failed to use the momentum as they butchered two tries at crucial stages.

The visitors were on the money with their tactics as they managed to bully Zimbabwe at the collision point and break down.

Kenya also managed to dominate territory as they played the bulk of the game in the Junior Sables’ half.

The visitors clawed back with 3 tries by scrum-half Patrick Wainaina, centre Michael Wamalwa and eight- men Iddo Kuta exploiting Zimbabwe’s defence weakness and going to the break leading  17-10.

In the second stanza, Junior Sables never got going as they only managed a solitary penalty through the mercurial boot of Nhekairo.

Kenya maintained their dominance scoring an unconverted try and penalty.

Zimbabwe skipper Nhekairo could not hide his disappointment about the results.

He told Zimbuzz Sports “I think some of the boys were greedy and wanted to play as individuals, we gave Kenya the game, they were just better than us on the day,” he said.
