Rainbow Tourism Group Turns Zimbabwe’s Holiday Season Into a Nationwide Celebration

Rainbow Tourism Group is betting big on togetherness this festive season, unveiling an expansive slate of Christmas and New Year programmes across its hotels that blend food, music, family activities and local culture into a coordinated national celebration.

From Victoria Falls to Harare, Bulawayo and beyond, the hospitality group has rolled out what it describes as one of its most ambitious festive offerings yet, aimed at families, leisure travellers and city residents looking for shared end-of-year experiences.

The programme runs from Unity Day on December 22 through to New Year’s Day, with tailored events at each property reflecting their location and audience.

In Victoria Falls, celebrations lean into spectacle and setting. The Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel and A’Zambezi River Lodge will host a mix of Mongolian dinners, traditional dance performances, river-side braais and candle-lit Christmas Eve services.

Children’s activities, including treasure hunts and Santa photo shoots, anchor Christmas Day programming, while New Year’s Eve events feature fireworks, champagne countdowns and live entertainment.

Harare’s Rainbow Towers will place music and family at the centre of its festivities.

Christmas Day lunches and dinners will be accompanied by live performances from leading gospel artist Janet Manyowa, alongside children’s games and interactive activities designed to make the day accessible to families.

A series of themed dining experiences at Kombahari and Harvest Garden restaurants rounds out the capital’s programme.

Elsewhere, RTG properties are leaning into community-focused events. Kadoma Hotel & Conference Centre is hosting movie nights, Junior Master Chef sessions for children and outdoor family days, while the Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel blends festive dining with live band performances, sports screenings and children’s treasure hunts.

Montclair Resort adds adventure and outdoor fun to the mix, with family fun days, live music and bush-setting dining experiences.

Across all properties, pricing has been set to encourage broad participation, with meals and activities ranging from entry-level family options to premium festive dining. RTG says the strategy is about more than filling rooms.

The group is positioning its hotels as social hubs during the holidays, supporting local entertainers and stimulating domestic tourism at a time when many Zimbabweans travel within the country.

Beyond food and entertainment, the festive rollout also highlights RTG’s wider tourism ecosystem.

Through Heritage Expeditions Africa, the group is promoting curated experiences such as Zambezi River cruises, game drives and cultural tours, offering visitors a seamless journey that extends beyond hotel walls.

As Zimbabwe heads into the year-end break, RTG’s nationwide programme reflects a broader shift in hospitality toward experiences that prioritise connection, culture and accessibility.

For many families, the festive season will not be defined by a single event, but by a calendar of shared moments spread across the country, all under one banner.
