Jamaican reggae sensation Alaine and Zimbabwean music superstar Jah Prayzah will headline the Afro Culture Connect concert set for April 4 at the Harare International Convention Centre, in what organisers describe as a cultural celebration linking African and Caribbean music.
The event, themed “A Tale of Two Cities,” aims to celebrate the musical and cultural connections between Zimbabwe and Jamaica through live performances, cultural exchange and a lineup of local and international artists.
Organised by Gateway Stream Media in partnership with Massive Events and Roughmix, the concert will feature a mix of reggae, Afro-fusion, hip-hop and contemporary Zimbabwean music.
Organisers say the event is designed to create a cultural bridge between the two countries through music and live performance.
Gateway Stream Media Manager Elton Kurima said the concert will bring together two major headline acts supported by a diverse lineup of Zimbabwean performers.
The supporting artists include Feli Nandi, Xiba, Nisha T, Kadjah, Voltz JT, Ninety6, Raymar, Ngwere Diki and Kadiki, while Templeman, MC Mox, Tanaman, Yahya Goodvibes and DJ Eve will also perform during the event.
Kurima said the concert is meant to celebrate music, identity and cultural exchange between Zimbabwe and Jamaica.
He described the event as more than a concert, but a platform that brings together audiences through shared African and Caribbean heritage and musical traditions.
Jah Prayzah, known for blending contemporary Zimbabwean music with traditional influences, is expected to deliver one of the main performances of the night, while Alaine, internationally recognised for her reggae and lovers rock music, will bring her Jamaican sound to the Harare stage.
Tickets for the concert are being released in phases following strong early demand, with early bird tickets already sold out.
Organisers have also introduced accommodation packages for concertgoers, including discounted hotel rates at Rainbow Towers Hotel and Conference Centre and the New Ambassador Hotel for those attending the event.
Gateway Stream Media, a subsidiary of Rainbow Tourism Group, has organised several major concerts and music events in Zimbabwe in recent years and says the Afro Culture Connect concert is part of its broader effort to promote local artists and connect Zimbabwean music with international markets.
