Delta Corporation Expands Bursary Program, Supporting 100 Zimbabwean Students in 2026

Delta Corporation has reaffirmed its long-term investment in education, inducting a new cohort of bursary recipients as part of a program aimed at supporting academically talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The induction ceremony, held in Harare at the Mandel Training Centre, brought together beneficiaries, education stakeholders and company executives under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future.”

The bursary scheme supports students from A-Level through to university, providing financial assistance designed to remove barriers to education.

This year, 100 students are benefiting from the program, selected in partnership with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to ensure the support reaches high-potential learners across all provinces.

Speaking at the event, Patricia Murambinda, General Manager for Corporate Affairs and spokesperson for Delta Corporation, said the initiative is part of a broader effort to contribute to national development through skills investment.

“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills,” she said. “Through this bursary programme, we are helping to protect learners’ potential from financial barriers and strengthen the country’s future workforce.”

Murambinda added that targeted support for deserving students offers a practical way to build sustainable communities and a stronger economy, aligning with the company’s long-term vision.

The bursary program is part of a wider education assistance initiative that has been running for more than two decades. Over that period, Delta has supported more than 1,300 students, investing approximately $2.1 million, with annual funding nearing $100,000.

Beyond direct financial support, the company has developed a broader pipeline of education and skills development initiatives.

These include infrastructure investments such as classroom construction in underserved communities, as well as training programs delivered through the Mandel Training Centre, the Delta Technical Institute and its Driver Training School.

Delta also supports early-career professionals through its Graduate Development Programme, contributing to the training of specialists across fields such as medicine, engineering and finance.

Company officials said the integrated approach is designed to address both immediate educational needs and long-term workforce development, ensuring that beneficiaries are equipped to contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s economy.

At the induction, bursary recipients were encouraged to pursue academic excellence and use the opportunity to create positive change within their communities.
