The year 2017 saw the merging of Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa into one—bigger and better Coke Studio Africa 2017.
This also means that the show became bigger as it increased the number of participating countries to 16, up from 11 in the previous edition.

Nasty C – Mad Over You Cover
20-year-old South African rapper, Nasty C attempted what many had failed in so many covers of the hit song Mad Over You by Runtown.
Everything about the song was just brilliant, in fact, he outdid the original song. His singing was pitch perfect and so were his rap lines. It’s now extremely difficult to listen and enjoy the original song as Nasty C’s refix totally owned the song. Watch the performance below
Mafikizolo – Malaika cover
South Africa’s favourite Pop duo of Mafikizolo took on the challenge of doing the cover of Nyashinski ‘s Malaika
The singing duo of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza captured every emotion in the song as they chose to a performance while seated down as though having a conversation. Watch the emotive performance below
Jah Prayzah, Mr Bow and Ykee Benda – Superman
It was a 3 country affair, Uganda’s Ykee Benda, Mozambique’s Mr Bow and Zimbabwean treasure Jah Prayzah in a masterpiece that exhibited great chemistry.
Rightly titled Superman, the three gentlemen where superb in their deliveries of the songs as each of them dug deep into their cultural silo to produce one of Coke Studio’s best moments. Watch the video below
Alikiba, Patoranking and Masterkraft – Katika
Seating at over 1,2 million Youtube views, Nigerian dancehall superstar Patoranking collaborates with fellow countrymen and one of Nigeria’s most sought-after producers and DJ Masterkraft and AliKiba a Tanzanian recording artist, singer-songwriter on the song Katika. Watch the performance below
AKA – Lagos Boys (Cover)
