Tatenda Mahachi’s emotional return to South Africa

After almost a year after the death of his friend and South Africa’s gospel great Sfiso Ncwane who passed away in December of 2016, musician Tatenda Mahachi made an emotional return to the country that gave him a brother.

With an estimated 5 000 crowd packed inside the Durban DCC, Mahachi saw the love his buddy had always been telling him of.

The appreciative sold-out crowd immediately received Mahachi’s new chart-topping collaboration with Oliver Mtukudi, Ndisiye as it became an instant him.

He also performed different tunes from his album Declarations such as Ndiye Nzira, Tichamuona and Naye Jesu which saw fans joining the artist in dance.

It was his collaboration Ndinoda Jesu which he recorded with the late Sfiso Ncwane that had the crowd emotional as they remembered their hero whose life was taken in his prime.

Other artists who took to the stage and gave a good performance include Dumi Mkhostad, Deborah Fraser, Sipho Makhabane Who all took Fans to their fit.

The Abathandwa Accapella Group which was being launched gave a brilliant performance as they took the fans down memory lane as they did a touching acapella renditions of Sfiso Ncwane Kulungile and Bayethe.

Abathadwa, where joined on stage by Tatenda Mahachi around 6 am,  to close the show with an acapella version of the song Ndinoda Jesu.

“Even the Pope has Haters” — Ammara

Zimbabwean superstar Ammara Brown is set to release her much anticipated debut album Ammartia next Friday 10 November.

But it seems each time something major is about to happen in her career her image somehow gets soiled with false accusations.

In November of 2016, fake news websites together with some mischievous elements on social media accused her of staring in a sex tape after a circulated porn video which featured a woman with a resemblance to Ammara.

The lady in the video was later identified as American porn star named Amari Harrison.

About a week or so ago, the ‘haters’ were at it again accusing the multi-award winning songstress of stealing a dress from a shop called Brands for Less.

The owner of the shop, compelled by the gravity of allegations issued a statement castigating the rumours and said Ammara was not the thief captured on the CCTV recording.

But all this hasn’t deterred Ammara as she believes the negativity is part and parcel of the celebrity package.

“I have never witnessed a public figure that doesn’t have haters,” she stated.

“Even the Pop has Haters, even Mother Teresa,” she said earlier this week at a media conference in Avondale where her management was briefing the media about the upcoming release.

“The human state of mind generally holds on to, for the sake of survival, of course, negative issues as a way to operate between love and fear.

“I used to get depressed with things like that but eventually I realised that you know what you can’t please everyone with what you do,” she added.

we shall be carrying an article on what to expect from her new album – Ammartia

“MP behind Jah Prayzah Attack ” — Temba Mliswa

Outspoken Norton legislator Temba Mliswa yesterday made claims that a fellow Member of Parliament had orchestrated the attack on Jah Prayzah which happened at Glen Forest Cemetery on Tuesday.

Temba Mliswa Picture – Twitter

He said this during a heated debate in Parliament and singled out Zanu PF MP for Harare South Shadreck Mashayamombe as the orchestrator of the attack.

The two Hon Mashayamombe and Hon Mliswa were later ejected from parliament as their argument on how parliament should deal with MPs’ outstanding allowances got out of hand.

Said Hon Mliswa: “You should know that you are a land baron, you made money through land. So, do not come to us and tell us about our welfare. He stole, he is a land baron and that is why he has money. You are a land baron. You are a land baron. You are a thief.”

He continued his assault on Hon Mashayamombe: “You are a land baron, you are a land baron. Go and get your money from those people that you sold stands to, we do not have money.

“I am not Jah Prayzah that you can cause to be assaulted. You are a thug and I am not a thug. Did you not cause the assault of Jah Prayzah! We will get to the bottom of this – I am done with you,”

Mp Mashayamombe denied to claims and responded to Mliswa.

“Hapana apo. You are the thug. On a point of order, he is insulting me.”

Why Jah Prayzah was attacked — Bouncer explains

The last weekend of October 2017 will rank as a cursed period for Jah Prayzah as he experienced his worst moment since turning to music as a profession.

Late afternoon Tuesday, Jah Prayzah was attacked at the most unusual of places, a cemetery — He had gone to pay his last respect to a man who served him as his security detail.

Crispen Nyemba who died in a car crash on Sunday along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare was a former bouncer for Jah Prayzah.

Videos of the attack have since gone viral on most Social media platforms.

Mourners at the Glen Forest Cemetery turned on the Kutonga Kwaro creator and started assaulting him throwing all kinds of objects at him and poor Jah had to run for cover to avoid serious injuries.

Social media, as usual, went into overdrive with all kinds of theories trying to explain why a man, who is arguably the most loved musician in Zimbabwe at the moment, could have irked mourners to the extent of being chased away from a funeral.

Zimbuzz tracked down some of the eyewitnesses to try and understand the circumstances that led to the attack.

This reporter went to a local gym Tuesday evening where he caught up with some of the bouncers who were Chris’ friends.

“The reason why Jah Prayzah was attacked and chased away from Chris’ funeral is because he showed no concern for a bouncer who protected him for a long time,” explained one of the bouncers at the Gym.

“Jah owed him (Crispen) a lot of money but he failed to contribute even a cent for the funeral, we called him asking for assistance with coffin payments and he kept saying that he was in a meeting,” added the bouncer.

The bouncer continued, ” Imagine we had to call Mudhara Phidza (Philip Chiyangwa) for assistance and he paid for the burial order and all the stuff, but Jah did not contribute anything yet he was not paying him his dues during the time he worked for him.”

The source also told Zimbuzz that the atmosphere was already charged and Jah Prayzah made the mistake of asking for VIP treatment.

By the time of his death, Crispen, was no longer serving as Jah Prayzah’s bouncer.

“When he arrived with his bouncers they were clearing the way by shoving people for him to pass through, that’s when people turned on him and started attacking him,” he continued with his narration.

Zimbuzz tried to reach Jah Prayzah’s manager for a comment but both of his phones were not reachable.

Masvingo

The winds of October must have started blowing from Zimbabwe’s oldest city of Masvingo as Jah Prayzah had to abandon a show after fans started throwing missiles on the stage.

Reports coming from Masvingo suggests that there was a problem with the PA system connection after the promoter failed to bring adequate stuff for the setup.

Jah Prayzah ended up abandoning the gig.

Harare – Castle Lager National Braai Day.

Soja Rinosvika Kure arrived late for his set as he took his sweet time backstage letting his Third Generation band to do an extended yet unnecessary soundcheck that went for over 25 minutes.

This irked the fans as they started throwing missiles on the stage resulting in the band running for cover, sensing danger, Jah Prayzah ran to the stage, knelt down and begged for forgiveness.

Fans continued throwing missiles despite his asking for forgiveness only to stop after a few minutes.

Idols SA registers Record-breaking Votes

As the finale inches ever closer and the contestants’ number dwindles, Idols SA is enjoying record-breaking votes as fans work hard to keep their favourites in the show.

This past week saw the votes skyrocket to 12 million!

The remaining five kicked off tonight’s instalment with the rallying Pharrell Williams hit, Freedom; and Killer Kau and Mbali also entertained with Tholukuthi Hey.

This was Faith Msibi’s last performance on the Idols stage as a contestant after receiving the least number of votes.

The night’s theme was “The Year I Was Born” and “Contemporary Hits”. Botlhale, born in 1996, was the first up, reminding fans of his instrument-playing prowess when he performed Joan Osborn’s One Of Us. Randall approved.

“I think it’s a very good idea to pull out the guitar at this stage.” Unathi was impressed that he had “shown us a different genre”, and Somizi called him the perfect example of versatility.

Botlhale’s follow up was Charlie Puth’s One Call Away, which had the judges reinforcing his “likeability” factor, predicting that his fans will keep him in the competition past this week.

Phindy was next, choosing Ringo’s 1997 love anthem, Sondela. She received all-around positive feedback from the judges.

Somizi said he couldn’t fault her, Unathi “loved” her voice in a vernacular rendition and Randall said she gave the song “nice verve and swing”.

Her second song, Sorry by Beyoncé, was an interesting interpretation which Unathi admitted to “struggling” with, despite a good performance.

Randall felt “the real Phindy” was lacking, while Somizi pegged her for the gap left by Lebo Mathosa in the music industry.

The Paxton fan army made sure their fave stayed in the competition. She chose Christina Aguilera’s 2000 hit I Turn To You.

While Randall couldn’t fault the performance, he said he would have preferred a more contemporary song.

Both Unathi and Somizi were poetic in their praise, leaving a few audience members quite emotional.

The teen made Randall happy when she chose the Black Coffee mix of In Common by Alicia Keys. Somizi gave her a “Whooo shem!” and Unathi bet that Black Coffee will be calling on Paxton the next time he needs a singer for the song on stage.

The last one through to the Top 4 was Mthokozisi. Born in 1991, he chose the poignant It’s Hard To Say Goodbye by Boyz II Men.

Accompanied by piano and backing vocals only, he rose to the occasion.  Randall loved the arrangement, saying there couldn’t have been a better song for him.

“Sthandwa sami, you’ve forgiven yourself. You are back. It was perfect,” announced Unathi. Somizi advised him to avoid falsettos but called the performance amazing.

“You are a lion.” His contemporary hit was Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean. “We’re happy when you’re happy!” enthused Unathi.

Somizi and Randall were equally as chuffed, with Randall predicting that it will be tough for fans to vote this week because “no one let the side down.”

Idols SA season 13 is on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161 on Sundays at 17:00 CAT.

#TuesBeauty: Cover It Honey! Conceal it, Only Show it when you Want to!

COVER IT, HONEY! YOU DON’T OWE ANYONE AN EXPLANATION Or an APOLOGY, IT’S ABOUT WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

Well, we all know that people judge a book by its cover, so who doesn’t want their book to have the best cover?

Not that we should focus on the judging part it’s about what rocks your boat. I believe if you look good, you feel good and do good, so why not look good?

We all don’t know what happens behind closed doors right! So why do you have to let the cat out of the bag, and spill the beans on your beauty secret, the choice is yours after all?

Cover it, conceal it, only show it when you want to!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying don’t treat the symptoms; get a cure to rid the imperfections if you can.

However it’s not all of us that have a flawless skin, therefore concealer is there to liberate some of us into achieving that flawless appearing looking skin.

I have ladies asking questions about make-up products and lots have no idea what a CONCEALER is. Today I’m going to briefly take you through the concealing effect, what it can be used for, when it’s applied and how.

Concealer can be used to:-

Cover discolourations (colour correcting)

Lighten dark areas to achieve appearance of an even skin tone

Mask blemishes

Disguise a younger looking skin

Highlighting your favourite features

Contouring

Cover dark circles

Cover redness

Cover tattoos

All these uses, the list is endless. But do you know when to use it and how?

The concealer comes before you apply your foundation. Once you’ve applied your concealer, you then need to blend it in nicely; you can either use a sponge or your fingertips.

You are not supposed to rub it off by doing wiping motions, you have to gently dab the concealer. I prefer blending with my fingers it works better.

Then apply your foundation and the rest of your makeup afterwards. When you are applying your foundation and your loose powder do not wipe, make sure you continue to dab so as not to wipe off the concealer which then defeats the whole purpose of applying it, in the first place.

Did you know? You can also apply concealer as a base for your eyeshadow, it allows the eyeshadow to blend in perfectly and make the colour pop out, as well as for your ocean/ desert inspired eyeshadow looks.
