Wrestling superstars John Cena and Nikki Bella have ended their engagement just weeks before they were set to tie the knot.
The couple called off their engagement exactly 20 days before their wedding.
They announced their split on Sunday after being together for six years. There are plenty of rumours about why it happened, but the evidence that the relationship wasn’t quite right was there from the start.
Before Nikki could move in with John, he asked her to sign a document with some ground rules. Said document was a whopping 75 pages long.
One of the requirements was that Nikki had to vacate their home immediately if they broke up.
Although Cena, 40, admitted in the past that he didn’t want to get married again — he was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 until 2012 — he got down on one knee and proposed to Bella in April 2017.
However, a source tells People that he started getting cold feet as the wedding date drew near.
Nikki and her twin sister Brie Bella put out a Twitter statement on Monday informing their fans of the split.
“After much contemplation and six years of being together, Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple,” it read.
“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”
And now it’s come out that the couple were completely at odds over starting a family, after WWE star John ruled out having kids.
“Nikki and John truly love each other, but they will never have the same view on a perfect future,” a source tells ET.
“Nikki has always dreamt of having a family of her own and John does not want children and that was the main cause of their break up. They are both dedicated to their careers, but Nikki wants more than just that.”
