MultiChoice brings the Russian Dream to St Joseph’s Home For Boys

They have no parents and no family. But the beautiful game of soccer gives them a warmth and a hope of one day becoming the big stars on the TV screens.

 

Football is a big part of the lads at the St Joseph’s Home For Boys and they got a chance to belong to the bigger family of the sport as they too are enjoying the delicacy of Russia.

Located in Belvedere, Harare the St Joseph’s House for Boys, which has a long and successful tradition of providing meaningful support and care for young men who might otherwise find themselves in very unpleasant situations.

Said Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe said they were glad to share the special moment with the young boys

“We at MultiChoice are pleased to present this screening today and we are especially pleased to be able to do so at the St Joseph’s Home For Boys, where we have been given a very warm welcome by the staff and the boys themselves,” she said.

“I hope everyone has an enjoyable afternoon and evening, as we watch the opening ceremony and the first match of the tournament.

“This coverage is of course presented on SuperSport, which gives DStv viewers direct access to all the best sport in the world, 24/7, 365 days a year,” she added.

The forerunner of the home came into being in 1936 as a result of efforts by an Anglican priest, the Reverend O W L Skey, with the first boys staying at his home.

In 1939 the first St Joseph’s House for Boys opened in what is now Nelson Mandela Avenue, and then the building was erected in 1953, so the home moved to Belvedere.

“MultiChoice Zimbabwe plays an important role in this country, not only representing MultiChoice Africa but also in helping serve the community,” said Liz Dziva.

“I hope that in this and coming years we will be able to support the efforts of the staff here in providing love and care and shelter to these wonderful young men, who are the citizens of tomorrow and some of whom may well be our leaders of tomorrow.”

MultiChoice has provided full Installation for the home to facilitate this broadcast and will also be donating the dish and decoder to the home and providing the home with a complimentary DStv subscription.

“We hope this pleases boys and staff and adds to the access they have to information, education and entertainment,” added Liz Dziva.
