With less than two weeks to deadline, entries are pouring in for the MultiChoice Talent Factory, as thousands of people across Africa apply to be among the lucky few chosen for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The successful entries will be part of MultiChoice’s pan-African social responsibility initiative to boost the continental film and television industry.
Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said entries from within Zimbabwe were among those received so far, and many more were expected to be sent in by the deadline of 5pm on Thursday, July 5.
The MultiChoice Talent Factory initiative consists of three key programmes: MTF academies, Masterclasses and the MTF Portal.
”We remind people that the call has been made for applications for the MTF Academy, a 12-month, fully-funded educational programme aimed at passing on to 60 young and talented people the necessary skills that will enable them to work and innovate in film and television production.
The Academy programme will, in fact, be made up of three regional MTF Academies, one based in Kenya for East Africa, one in Nigeria for West Africa and one in Zambia for Southern and Central African countries.
“We urge all hopeful aspiring film and TV students to complete their entries and submit them in order to be considered for this opportunity,” said Ms Dziva.
“We’re delighted to see the enthusiasm and interest this initiative has so far garnered and we would like to encourage anyone who wants to develop the skills needed to succeed in the film and TV industry to visit the MultiChoice Talent Factory website to complete the entry application form right away.
”The website is at www.multichoicetalentfactory.comand forms can be sourced there. These must be submitted as indicated on the website by end of business on July 5, after which an adjudication process will whittle down the thousands of entries to 60 MTF students – 20 for each region.
The MTF Academy venues will launch the year-long programme October 1.
