Mudiwa Hood and Trevor Dongo have decided to drop visuals for their 2019 tender-hearted dedication to all mothers.
Amai Vakandirera is a song we fell in love with instantly and as Zimbuzz we wrote a review of it in July of the same year.
Shot in a rural setting, the video takes us through the realities that most grew up in, but it puts a spotlight on one particular thing – Mothers always appreciate the little that their children do.
With a wheelbarrow, a bar of green soap, and a bag of mealie meal, Mudiwa present the gifts to his on-set mother, and she thanks him like he has just dropped a bunch of car keys at her feet, such are African mums.
The emotion on both their faces is highlighted effortlessly giving out such an emotional scene.
But not everyone still has their mothers with them and that angle is shown with a solo Trevor Dongo narrating the story both in words and action, seated in the lone homestead belting out words of gratitude to the late mothers.
The fact is further amplified by a cemetery scene where the two take turns to reminisce the days the mom was still on earth but also alive to the fact that her works and sacrifices live on.
What better day than drop the song on Mothers Day and it doesn’t sound like a 3-year-old song at all.
