Khama Billiat’s return to the Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team has been a subject of speculation for a long time now.
Yet the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs forward has not publicly spoken about the subject ever since he retired from international football.
Judging from Khama’s previous performances as well as his Sartuday display for Yadah against Manica Diamonds, it’s clear that the Warriors need Khama more than Khama needs them.
Khama had an impressive outing at the Heart Stadium, netting the equalizer for Yadah as well.
But the speculation about his return has now been amplified following his brief chat with interim Warriors head coach Jairos Tapera after the one-all draw match at the Heart Stadium in a Castle Larger Premier Soccer League match.
Khama and Tapera seemed to be having a serious conversation, which began on the pitch after the game and continued into the changing rooms.
With the COSAFA tournament on the horizon, perhaps Tapera is considering having Khama as one of the senior players in the team.
Whatever the two discussed, only they know, but it is every football fan’s hope that Khama considers coming out of retirement and serving his country once again, something he has done with distinction.
