Bulawayo’s Khaya Arts Storms into Chibuku Neshamwari Finals

Khaya Arts, a dance group hailing from Sizinda, won the Bulawayo provincial Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance competition on Saturday, earning their place in the national finals.

 

The final round of provincial competitions was held on Saturday at Phekiwe Beerhall in Nkulumane, Bulawayo.

Khaya Arts captivated the judges with their enchanting Mutshongoyo performance, securing their advancement.

The national finals are set to take place on July 27 at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo where representatives from the country’s 10 provinces will battle it out.

Khaya Arts received a cash prize of US$2 500, second-placed Bambanani Traditional Dance Group took home US$1 500, and third-place Sizwe Sabatsha received US$ 1,000.

The 10 groups that have made it to the national finals are:

Mash East: Nyaungwe Dance Group (Mbende)
Mat South: Bolamba (Setapa)
Mat North: Pezhuba Pachena (Nsumbuke Dance)
Mash Central: Dzimbahwe Nengoma (Chinyambera)
Harare: Culture Warriors (Dinhe)
Masvingo: Gango (Mbakumba)
Midlands: Mkango Malawi (Nyau)
Manicaland: Dapuraunanzva Arts Ensemble (Mbakumba)
Mash West: Budiriro Arts (Mhande)

Bulawayo: Khaya Arts (Mutshongoyo)

The national finals will see whooping cash prizes; with the first prize set at US$15,000, the second prize at US$10,000, and the third prize at US$7,500.
