Zimbabwe Sables Reign Supreme as African Champions
The Zimbabwe Sables have etched their names in the annals of African rugby history by clinching the Rugby Africa Cup title following a resounding 29-3 victory over Algeria in the final.
This historic achievement marks a triumphant return to the pinnacle of continental rugby for the Sables.
Having already stunned the rugby world by defeating Namibia for the first time in 23 years, the Sables capped off an unforgettable week with a dominant display against Algeria.
The team’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament culminated to individual accolades for the team with Coach Pieter Benade being named Coach of the Tournament, Tapiwa Mafura claiming the Player of the Tournament award.
With Aiden Burnett named man of the match in today’s finale and Brian Makamure being the only Sables player to win two Africa Cups in 2012 and 2024.
