Knowledge Musona Makes Shock Return to Warriors Squad

Zimbabwean football star Knowledge Musona, affectionately known as “The Smiling Assassin,” has come out of international retirement to rejoin the Warriors squad.

The 34-year-old forward, who announced his retirement from national duty in May 2022, has been included in the team for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.

Musona’s return comes after successful negotiations with Warriors coach Michael Nees, who managed to convince the veteran striker to reconsider his decision.

With 54 caps and 24 goals for Zimbabwe, Musona’s experience and goal-scoring prowess are expected to bolster the Warriors’ attack as they aim to secure crucial points in Group C.

Currently playing for Al Okhdood in the Saudi Pro League, Musona remains a key figure in Zimbabwean football.

His return is seen as a major boost for the Warriors, who will face Benin on March 20 and Nigeria on March 25.

Musona’s international career has been marked by memorable performances, including his role as captain during the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations makes him a vital asset as Zimbabwe looks to make a strong case in the qualifiers.
