South Africa-based Zimbabwean amapiano singer Sha Sha has announced the date for her upcoming album release.
The news was shared by her new South African management company Black Major who also shared the roadmap leading to the release.
Black Major said there is going to be a slate of amazing new singles, leading up to the release of Sha Sha’s new album I’M ALIVE on August 26th through Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
“Alongside the release of her new album, her relationship with Black Major will see Sha Sha expand out of her Southern African base to take her music – and live performances – to a global audience,” read the statement.
“A number of international tour dates are being planned for later in 2022 with Sha Sha’s introduction to new audiences coming at a time when Amapiano is rapidly becoming a global cultural force, taking this commercially hot genre into countries as diverse as Japan, the Netherlands and the UK.”
Sha Sha, who hails from Mutare in Zimbabwe, has rapidly ascended the music industry to claim the queen of amapiano title through a slate of high-profile collaborations as well as her own releases.
She appears on the current South African number one hit – Nomfundo Moh’s “Phakade Lami” featuring Sha Sha and Ami Faku.
Sha Sha launched her music career in 2013, aged just 19. From being recognised and nurtured by singer-songwriter Audius Mtawarira, she ultimately connected with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Samthing Soweto who worked with her on her debut EP, Blossom.
Released in 2019, the EP quickly ensured Sha Sha became a household name in the amapiano space through a collection of eight tracks that also showcased Sha Sha’s ability to deliver beautiful Afro-soul songs and the sheer versatility of amapiano.
Sha Sha earned her first international award in 2020 when she took home the Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act award at the prestigious BET Awards, becoming the first Zimbabwean to receive the honour.
