“I don’t feel like I’ve fully been in love,” she says.
“Someone will break my heart… When you’re younger you think about love a lot, like, ‘I can’t wait to have a boyfriend. I can’t wait to be in love. I’m gonna write a bunch of songs about it.’
Tinashe recently posed for Playboy Magazine
“That was me.” She continues, “But that’s not my focus anymore. I find myself writing a lot more about being underestimated.”
She also said she is not much of a party person but instead prefer her couch more.
“I love being alone. I kind of prefer it,” she says.
“People assume that I’m super outgoing and always want to hang out. But truth be told, outside of work, I would definitely rather be watching Netflix.”
South African music sensation Zahara was in the country over the weekend, this is her umpteenth time visiting Zimbabwe.
Well, the show flopped. In fact, all the paying fans couldn’t even fill up one wing of the venue.
Here are the 5 things that we learned.
1. Zahara is not current hot property
This show flopped on the drawing board, that moment when promoters decided to bring the Loliwe hit maker to Harare
Zahara was hot property in 2011 when she dropped her debut album and that was evident by her first Harare show which was sold out. Of course, she is riding somewhat high with Phendula but that’s not enough to fill the HICC.
Even with help from Jah Prayzah the HICC auditorium couldn’t fill up.
2. Relevance Relevance Relevance
This is one aspect dancehall promoters have managed to master
Here I will refer you to the reviews we once did here on the new innovation of entertainment the Castle Lite party and the Beer Fest.
Just how relevant was Zahara in this festive season? I say not so much.
Here is why, its December time and expectation is high, people are looking for that one great artist who is gonna be the talk of the town.
Ok here we are not suggesting that you bring Adele to Harare but if it’s what people are currently jamming on then make a plan. Hello?
3. Even a radio station will not succeed marketing ‘irrelevance’
This was the biggest deception on the part of the promoters.
They partnered with Start FM, which has a large listenership by the way and thought hala all our marketing problems are solved and halved.
And Star FM did play their part.
But human beings are not that naïve to fall for the hype. They have to be a connection between what the people want and what the people care about. And Zahara wasn’t that.
4. Tuku is still the real deal
While the promoters were still trying to deal with our frustrations at HICC, Mudhara Tuku had all the traffic directed to Norton.
Our contacts there told us that the venue was packed. The reason is simple. Tuku is still relevant now as he was then.
5. Please no more Zahara
This simply was the message from perceived fans who decided to stay at home.
Star FM held their inaugural People’s Choice Awards at the HICC over the weekend where south african singer Zahara also gave a performance despite a poor turnout.
Here are the winners
Humanitarian Award – Nyarai Mashayamombe
Tilda present Nyarai with Humanitarian award
Business person of the Year – Wicknell ‘Sir Wicknell’ Chivayo
Itai Mutinhiri finally had her debut performance, and she chose the biggest stage of them all, the Star FM’s Big Hangout at the Old Hararians Sports club.
“It was both overwhelming and intimidating at first so I had a few nerves acting up, and with all my friends asking if I was ready I got so anxious.”
“But a few minutes before the performance decided I wouldn’t mind the reaction from the crowd but instead have fun..I’m one person that’s been teased about enjoying my song more than fans,” she told Zimbuzz.
Cindy’stalents know no bounds, if it’s not her sweet voice in your ears then it’s her ever consistently stylish moments on the red carpet.
Recently she was at the premier of the new James Bond premiere and decided to transit from simply daring to glamorous when she decided to wear her mother’s dress from the 80’s.
Cindy Munyavi
So we asked her the inspiration behind such a daring move:
“When I was invited to the premiere of Spectre I thought to myself…mmmm what would a bond girl wear? And that dress immediately came to mind.”
“My mom gave me this dress 3 years ago I hadn’t worn it all along because I have been too lazy to alter it because it was a size too big.”
Cindy Munyavi..ever daring
She said her mom and her tailor Ricky designed it after her dad bought the material in Mauritius in 1989.
“The dress is has a weird fabric, the colour of the dress changes according to the lighting,” she added.
It’s been 5 years already and most never thought the awards would last this long due to the huge financial demands required to put up such a show.
And it has taken a lot of steering from the man who has been at the helm of it all, Aldrian Beefy Harrison.
The awards have had their own share of controversies but so has the BET, Grammy’s and other such events.
We have criticised, we have offered support, we have disagreed, we have agreed, but we still have looked forward to this event for the last four years.
Basically, it’s been a love and hate affair.
Yet in that mixed bag of emotion and opinion, the awards ceremony has been a constant feature on our December calendar, thanks to the man Beefy and his team
Aldrian Beefy Harrison
Let’s take a recap on what has taken place in the last editions:
2011
Stunner and the sex tape
He dominated the airwaves, reached levels no other hip-hop artist has ever reached.
But his success was diluted by the leaking of the sex tape he made with erstwhile girlfriend Pokello Nare
The question was whether Stunner would attend the ceremony or not. And in true defiance he came.
This was the first time he made a public appearance after the sex tape leak.
He bagged three awards, Best Male, Best Video and best Song (Godo)
That emotional moment when Amelia’s name was read out

2013
The biggest year in Hip Hop to date..
This was the year hip-hop musicians really put in hard work; so many chart toppers were released during this season.
Actually hip hop has never been bigger than 2013.
However, if ever there was a time the Awards should have died, it was 2013.
With less than 24 hours before the show, the judge’s panel recused itself from the duties.
Word went round fast casting doubt the ceremony would happen.
Power FM’s School of Hip Hop show then issued a statement castigating the judges for pulling out saying such moves “only seek toconfuse and destroy the hard work put in by all the artists.”
However, another panel was assembled and the show went ahead, and it became clear that the vision was not going to die in 2013.

That dumbfounded coffin madness and the Hakeem/Peekay scuffle
Schingy and his boys from Team Bho then brought in a coffin onto the stage soon after Mizchif’s mother had stepped off the stage to receive his posthumous award for Lifetime achievement.
And then former BBA housemate Hakeem torched a storm after presenting an award
“For Peekay to win the award is bull***t. Tehn Diamond was supposed to get the award,” he said.
And that moment when Blackbird tried to play peacemaker when the two wanted to grab each other’s throats.

It really has been an eventful four years……see you at the ceremony at 1+1
1.Stay away from shirts that look too cooperate especially the blue stripes.
Stunner- loves clubbing in a suit
2. If you are going to visit that club downtown then a suit is a no no, you will kill the festive vibe in there because you will be looking like those guys who work for the government who are on a spy mission.
3. If you gona party in North of Samora then avoid looking like some country’s flag or that guys who sales toxic substance, I bet you the bouncer won’t let you in, even if you try faking being a tourist and use that fake Caribbean accent.
4. If after trying to land a few ladies but with no success, chances are that you are dressed like an accountant with that boardroom blue shirt. Accountants are known for their stinginess. If this has happened to you then its time you ditched the suit look and tried the trendy sports jacket, any dark-colored jeans and a square shaped leather shoe.
5. Remember that if you decided to remove your jacket then put it away somewhere and don’t keep holding dearly to it. Here is why: girls are very discerning and can tell which guy came driving and which one came with a cab. So holding to your jacket simply means you came to a club with a cab, and you will leave the same way you came in, ALONE that is.
6. This one is is non-negotiable. Only wear a slim-fit jacket, not too tight but just a perfect fit.
Stunner- likes to let out his creativity out when in a party mood
7. I also loved 2 Pac and I too grew up on some BIG but that’s no excuse to remain stuck in the 90’s fashion. Burn all your baggy jeans shamwari, do not give them away please. Because by giving them to someone you are committing what I call Fashioncide.
8. If you manage to pull the suit look, there is still one more thing, sha you can’t be seen throwing up in an Armani Jacket, whatever you drink you are forbidden from releasing it through the mouth. Also don’t be grabbing ladies’ bottoms or else you gona wake up in a police cell in Malbelreign in your Tuxedo.
9. In up-scale clubs trust me they all watch Polo and are fans of Ice Hockey, so please do not wear your premier league t-shirt there. I love my Arsenal shirt but I can’t be advertising for the Emirates even in a club.
