Meet Zim’s Lorren Khumalo, the former nanny of Meghan Markle’s son

Can you imagine receiving a phone call asking you to meet Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to discuss the possibility of working for them as nanny to their new baby? Well, that is exactly what happened to Lorren Khumalo.

“I had this phone call and they were like ‘Prince Harry and Meghan want to see you, they want to talk to you about being a nanny to Archie,” revealed Lorren in the fourth episode of the ‘Harry and Meghan’ Netflix docuseries.

Before working for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Lorren reportedly worked as a nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and then The Portland Hospital as a paediatric nurse. The Portland Hospital is where Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie.

During the Harry & Meghan docuseries episode four, Lorren spoke about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry being very involved parents.

“They were really hands-on parents,” she revealed. “In the morning when he woke up, firstly mum and dad would come in, they would be with their baby, she would feed him and then after that, I’d take over and normally we’d go for a morning walk.”

Lorren Khumalo accompanied Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Archie when the couple embarked on a tour to South Africa, Archie was four months old at the time.

It has since been revealed that there was a dramatic moment when Archie’s nursery caught fire, but luckily he was with Lorren at the time and not in his room which got engulfed in flames.

Although Lorren no longer is employed by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, she was more than happy to talk in the docuseries.

5 Reasons Why We are Attending Janet Manyowa’s A Night of Thanksgiving

Underneath all that glitter, sparkle, and fireworks display that dominate New Year’s celebrations, it’s also a time to thank the creator for giving us another chance at life.

A Night of Thanksgiving concert by Janet Manyowa has been a constant feature on the first of January for a few years now, barring the Covid-19 era.

2023 is no different as the award-winning songstress Janet Manyowa gathers her friends at the immaculate Celebration Centre to thank the lord in music.

The worship event will feature the anointed voices of South African star Dr Tumi, who is returning to the iconic Celebration Centre.

Eminent worshipper Takesure Zamar, generational talent Michael Mahendere, the vocal prowess of Sharon Manyika and your host Janet Manyowa.

With this carefully selected lineup expect to experience prayer in song, anointed worship moments and sets cresting with affirmations that are sure to bounce between the stage and the auditorium.

Here are Five Reasons Why we are attending ANOT 2023 – What to expect

Takesure Zamar

He has one of the strongest voices of his generation of gospel singers. He uses his velvety tone to lead people into the presence of God in a commanding yet tender manner.

Dr Tumi

His is a special calling. Being a practising doctor he administers medicine to both the body and the soul. Blessed with a unique voice that bends and moves easily with such grace

Michael Mahendere

Coming from a legendary gospel music family, his calling was destiny. Minister Mahendere is a generational talent that ministers to the heart and soul.

Sharon Manyika

Sharon Manyika has a well-blended voice. She is blessed with a voice that can move throughout the entirety of her range and between registers with ease and does all of this to the glory of  God.

The Host – Janet Manyowa

For those that didn’t get a chance to attend Wanqoba Concert in Bulawayo, this will be your second shot to experience what the City of Kings experienced in July this year.

Probably the best performance I have witnessed. Her songwriting skills are rare and exceptional. The sincerity in her songs has now birthed all of the masterpieces in her catalogue.

**If ever you needed a reason to attend A Night of Thanksgiving at the Celebration Centre, these five voices are all the 5 reasons you required.

Zim Producer Daecolm reunites with Chris Brown on Christmas Song

Accomplished Zimbabwean songwriter and artist Daecolm recently flew into Los Angeles to work with Chris Brown on his recently released It’s Giving Christmas holiday single.

Daecolm was born in Zimbabwe but now lives between London and Los Angeles.

I got to Los Angeles and one of my boys, who I work with mentioned that Chris Brown had an idea for a Christmas single. There had been a few songs already written and some instrumentals on the shortlist,” shared Daecolm about their collaboration.

“I went to the studio and ended up picking a completely different instrumental than what was offered to me and I even sped it up a little, which was a different approach.

“Chris loved it and to my surprise, he was already mixing and mastering it the next day. Things moved so fast after that! Then his team reached out to discuss the business and paperwork.

“Then I see he is already posting about releasing Christmas singles this year and soon after that the single was out as part of his It’s Giving Christmas 2 pack.”

This single is not the first time Daecolm has collaborated with Chris Brown, most recently he wrote Passing Time on Chris’ Grammy Nominated album Breezy.

Daecolm will be visiting South Africa and Zimbabwe from December 2022 through to January 2023 and will be available for in-person interviews during this time.

John Chibadura Family vs FIFA World Cup — ZIMURA makes ruling

Following claims by the late John Chibadura‘s family on media platforms that their late father’s song, “Mudiwa Janet” was performed at the FIFA World Cup 2022, The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has released their findings.

In a statement ZIMURA said the world cup theme did not originate from John Chibadura’s ‘Mudiwa Janet.’

“The research and analysis of both songs has clearly shown that the 2022 FIFA World Cup song did not originate from the late Chibadura’s song ‘Mudiwa Janet’ but rather from a song titled ‘Hayya Hayya (Better Together)’ performed by a number of international artists.,” read the report.

According to ZIMURA, a thorough research and analysis of the songs under comparison were done. The analysis included code sequence, chord progression, melodies and arrangements whilst the research included inputs from music experts.

Experts who conducted the research included Pastor Charles Charamba, leader of The Fishers of Men Band and also a renowned music professional who holds a Bachelor of
Music Degree in Jazz, from the Africa University.

Clive Mono Mukundu, a Zimbabwean music expert with extensive knowledge of music complimented by his Degree in Music Business, Musicology and Technology with the Midlands State University.

Dr Dread, a Cape Town-based renowned music producer with lots of experience covering different genres and sound styles.

ZIMURA’s findings and conclusion were successfully relayed to Isabel Nyamukokoko heir to the late John Chibadura’s Copyright Estate who fully understood and accepted the outcome.

Chibadura’s son, Simba, who took over the reins along with his siblings Knowledge and John Junior had raised complaints in an interview published by H-Metro on 1 December.

“We have listened to the sound with other family members and we were really shocked how it ended up being used without our knowledge,” he told the Tabloid.

“We really suspect it might be someone linked to Gramma Records who might have sold the beat.”

The Shift Concert: Travis Greene delivers Multi-Layered, Energy-Driven Performance

Renowned American gospel singer, Pastor and eminent worshiper Travis Greene delivered an enthralling set at the just-ended concert themed ‘The Shift.’

As soon as the lights inside a packed Celebration Centre dimmed and the opening montage on the two giant screens began to outline the career of Travis Greene the atmosphere shifted.

The noise and screens inside the auditorium were already deafening as scores prepared for the hour-long performance that would follow.

Aptly named ‘The Shift’ Greene’s maiden Zimbabwe appearance left indelible memories in the hearts of those that attended.

He demonstrated that no matter how many times you perform and how many tracks you produce, each show is like your first and just like he had promised when he landed, it was passionate, prayerful and engaging.

Travis Green belted most of the favourites that people were already chanting as soon as the MCs Pastor Jeff Muserera and  Star FM”s Yvonne Tivatye announced his set.

He played hits such as the much loved ‘Narekele Mo’ which he was featured on by Nigerian star Tim Godfrey, new releases ‘Tent Revival’ and ‘Impossible’, ‘Good and Loved,’ ‘You Waited’, ‘Watch him Turn it’ amongst many from his rich catalogue.

Capping off his performance was the powerful track ‘Made a way’ but before that, he called upon his wife who explained how the song was written.

According to her wife Dr Jackie Greene, the song was inspired by events which took place during the birth of their son whom the doctors had declared wasn’t going to live for long.

“Our son is alive and well up to this day,” shouted Dr Jackie as Travis and Forward City began to calmly play the track.

Travis Greene’s first Zimbabwean performance was organised by Set-Up Events who also promised to bring other world-class gospel acts in 2023.

Earlier on local acts had put up flawless performances some of which were witnessed by Pastor Greene while he either sat in the front row of the stage or interacted with fans in the auditorium.

After the opening prayer by Pastor Grace Kapswara, Joyful Praise Choir took to the stage after Gospel DJ Unlocked entertained the crowd with her selection.

Soon after Minister Mike Mahendere came on and introduced a few new songs which were well received.

Psalmist Hubert C and Takesure Zamar followed respectively before the legendary Pastor Bonnie and Celebration Choir brought the house down with their worship.

After the concert which ended around 1930hrs it was time for Pastor Travis Greene to do a meet and greet with VVIP ticket holders, an incentive which came with the ticket package.

DStv adds new BBC Channel

A sixth BBC channel will be added to the DStv platform in December, adding to the variety, quality and creativity of the British-made content available through the various BBC channels on DStv.

Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said BBC UKTV would launch on Thursday December 15 on channel 134 and would be available to viewers of all bouquets in Zimbabwe, DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact, DStv Family, DStv Access and DStv Lite.

“This is exciting news for lovers of top-rated international programming and it will complement the already significant levels of information, education and entertainment available from BBC channels to DStv viewers,” she said.

BBC UKTV will feature a wide range of 24/7 entertainment, natural history series, soaps and children’s shows from BBC’s award-winning showcase.

“This new channel will introduce new programmes and become a platform for popular shows that have been on the other BBC channels in the past, and it is designed to be of appeal to all ages and all viewers,” said Ms Dziva.

The other channels from Britain’s 100-year-old national broadcaster are BBC Earth, BBC Brit, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News.

“BBC’s existing suite of channels will continue to offer first-run new premium programming such as Strictly Come Dancing, Frozen Planet II and other popular shows such as Come Dine With Me South Africa and Homegrown Tastes South Africa,” she said.

Former England batter Gary Ballance set to play for Zimbabwe after agreeing contract

The former England batter Gary Ballance has agreed a two-year contract with Zimbabwe Cricket to play domestic and international cricket in and for the country of his birth.

This follows the Harare-born left-handed batter’s release from his contract with county cricket side Yorkshire.

Between 2014 and 2017, Ballance featured for England, playing 23 Tests, scoring four centuries at an average of 37.45, as well as 16 one-day internationals.

Before moving abroad, he had starred for Zimbabwe at the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2006 while still a schoolboy at Peterhouse Boys School in Marondera.

Commenting after ZC contracted Ballance, now aged 33, ZC Director of Cricket Hamilton Masakadza said: “We are elated to have Gary, an immensely talented and experienced cricketer, back home where it all started for him.

“He is a great addition to our domestic and international set-up and we are looking forward to him making a massive difference for us.”

The player himself said he was excited to get the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Zimbabwe Cricket and can’t wait to start work with some great coaches and talented players,” Ballance said.

“The opportunity to represent Zimbabwe has given me a new-found passion and excitement for the game.

“I have kept in touch with a number of people within Zimbabwe cricket over the years and it has been great to watch their recent progress especially.”

American Gospel star Travis Greene has arrived in Zimbabwe

After much anticipation, Grammy-nominated American gospel artist Travis Greene touched down on Zimbabwean soil Thursday late afternoon.

Greene landed at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport accompanied by his wife Dr Jackie Greene and their full band Forward City.

The concert which is titled ‘The Shift’ is happening courtesy of Set-UP Events at the Celebration Centre on Saturday, December 10.

Speaking soon after his arrival Pastor Travis Greene was overjoyed to visit Zimbabwe for the first time.

“My deepest apologies that it has taken a long time for me to get here but I’m here now and I can’t wait to learn more about your amazing culture,” he said with a wide smile.

Pastor Travis Greene at the RGM International Airport

“This weekend we are going to worship God together and it’s going to be full of passion and his presence.”

A mega lineup of local supporting acts has already been announced, with Minister Mahendere, Takesure Zamar Ncube, Psalmist Herbert C, Joyful Praise Choir and Pastor Bonnie set to take to the stage.
