Kenya dash Junior Sables Barthes three-peat Dream

Kenya booked their place at the next Junior World trophy tournament to be held in Scotland in July with an emphatic 28-13 win over Zimbabwe at the Machinery  Exchange Stadium at Harare Sports Club.

Junior Sables managed to dominate early exchanges with two quick unconverted tries by Emanuel Gabi and Edward Sigauke racing into a 10-00.

They failed to use the momentum as they butchered two tries at crucial stages.

The visitors were on the money with their tactics as they managed to bully Zimbabwe at the collision point and break down.

Kenya also managed to dominate territory as they played the bulk of the game in the Junior Sables’ half.

The visitors clawed back with 3 tries by scrum-half Patrick Wainaina, centre Michael Wamalwa and eight- men Iddo Kuta exploiting Zimbabwe’s defence weakness and going to the break leading  17-10.

In the second stanza, Junior Sables never got going as they only managed a solitary penalty through the mercurial boot of Nhekairo.

Kenya maintained their dominance scoring an unconverted try and penalty.

Zimbabwe skipper Nhekairo could not hide his disappointment about the results.

He told Zimbuzz Sports “I think some of the boys were greedy and wanted to play as individuals, we gave Kenya the game, they were just better than us on the day,” he said.

Khama brace guides Yadah to victory over Chicken Inn

The Chicken Inn and Yadah football match was delayed for more than 10 minutes as Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas ordered his players to vacate the pitch in protest against a penalty given to Yadah.

This happened after Evans Rusike was fouled in the 42nd minute and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

This would be Yadah FC’s second penalty of the match after Khama Billiat had already earned a penalty in the 8th minute after a handball by a Chicken Inn player.

Although the penalty looked clear, Chicken Inn protested the decision but assistant coach Fungai Kwashi stepped in and calmed the senior coach, ordering players to resume play.

A conversation between Joey Antipas and Khama Billiat also took place before the Chicken Inn manager calmed down and allowed his players to return to the pitch.

He also had a brief chat with the Yadah coach Ruzive.

Play then resumed in the 54th minute and Khama converted for his second goal of the afternoon, sending Donovan Bernard the wrong way.

Yadah kicked off the match with good passing, starving Chicken Inn of possession and the pressure resulted in an 8th minute penalty which Billiat converted.

Former Warriors player Danny Phiri then received a straight red card in the 12th minute after a high boot challenge on Ndereki.

This weakened Chicken Inn’s midfield as Khama and Rusike’s combinations troubled the visitors.

Yadah almost scored in the 30th minute but Rusike’s shot was saved by Chicken Inn goalkeeper Bernard Donovan.

The second half resumed with Khama looking to complete his hat-trick, and he almost got his third but his free-kick hit the woodwork 3 minutes into the second half.

Yadah continued their offensive play and hit the upright again moments later.

Chicken Inn then wrestled control back from Yadah and were rewarded with a goal in the 64th minute through substitute Rendo Brendon.

Despite being a man down, Chicken Inn’s experience showed as they started enjoying some fair possession.

The match ended in a nervy moment as Yadah came under pressure from Chicken Inn who were seeking an equaliser.

Chicken Inn Assistant coach told reporters after the game that he envisioned what had taken place and he had pre-warned his players during his team talk.

“I was expecting what happened today, I knew it,” he said as he expressed his displeasure at the match officials.

“I know this trap, I was waiting for this trap.”

Green Fuel Fires Coach Rodwell Dhlakama: Was it Justified?

In a surprising turn of events, Green Fuel football club has decided to sack their head coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, along with his first assistant coach, Darlington Dodo.

This move marks the first coaching dismissal of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

While the team’s recent 3-0 loss to CAPS United undoubtedly played a role in the decision, there are growing speculations that external factors, particularly the discontent of Green Fuel fans, may have influenced the club’s action.

“Green Fuel Football Club has parted ways with head coach Rodwell Dhlakama and assistant coach Darlington Dodo,” the club announced in a statement.

“The mutual separation is with immediate effect and has been influenced by the team’s performance so far in the 2024 season. The separation is in the best interests of Green Fuel Football Club and the coaches.

“The club wishes to express its gratitude to the services provided by the Coach Dhlakama and Coach Dodo for their accomplishment during the 2023 season by steering the team from the real possibility of relegation.

“The club wishes the coaches the best in their next assignments,’’ added the statement.

Coach Rodwell Dhlakama’s Record:

The team’s record under his guidance consisted of two wins, three draws, and three losses. While it may not be an outstanding record, the coach’s overall record does not appear to be abysmal. However, the recent 3-0 loss to CAPS United appears to have been the final straw leading to Dhlakama’s dismissal.

Dhlakama took over the coaching reigns of Green Fuel last season after Bekithemba Ndlovu parted ways with the club following a dismal start that saw them floundering in the relegation places after 8 games.

Faced with the mammoth task of saving the sinking ship, Dhlakama managed to steady the ship and steer Green Fuel to calmer waters, guiding them to a respectable 10th place finish on the log with 45 points.

Following Dhlakama’s dismissal, the responsibility of leading Green Fuel now falls on the shoulders of Innocent Chogugudza, the team’s second assistant coach and goalkeepers coach.

Chogugudza has been appointed interim coach and will take charge of his first game on Sunday against Arenel Movers.

Renowned Substance Abuse Expert Launches Innovative Recovery Program in Zimbabwe

Distinguished Substance Abuse Treatment Counsellor Dr Emmanuel Nzuzu (PhD), based in Jacksonville, Florida, has returned to his homeland of Zimbabwe to combat the escalating drug and alcohol addiction crisis.

With the country experiencing a surge in substance abuse cases and overwhelmed drug rehabilitation centres, Dr. Nzuzu aims to make a significant impact with his ground-breaking program, “How to Stay Sober” (HTSS).

Dr. Nzuzu, a licensed Mental Health Counsellor in the State of Florida and a Certified Addictions Professional, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the fight against addiction.

Frustrated by traditional approaches that often failed to provide long-term sobriety, he developed the HTSS program after more than seventeen years of research and work with alcohol and drug addicts.

“It was heart-breaking for me to see that after all the effort people put into their treatment and recovery, they did not have the skills to maintain their sobriety once their treatment was completed,” said Dr. Nzuzu

“Every time they relapse, their families are utterly devastated, and the patients feel like a complete failure. Even worse, their relapse undermines their confidence in their ability to stay clean in the future.”

The HTSS program focuses on empowering individuals, communities, and Zimbabwean society as a whole in their battle against alcoholism and drug addiction.

Its comprehensive approach includes capacity-building for existing treatment facilities, empowering personnel working in addiction recovery, educating addicts on regaining control of their lives, and providing mentorship and business support for individuals in recovery.

To kickstart the program, Dr. Nzuzu will be conducting the first workshop, titled “Preventing Drug/Alcohol Relapse,” which is scheduled for May 24th at the Highlands Sports Club in Harare.

The workshop is designed for therapists, counsellors, psychologists, and social workers, aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge in relapse prevention.

Doris Musasa, the contact person for the Sober At Last Academy, expressed her enthusiasm for Dr. Nzuzu’s work and the unique opportunity it presents for Zimbabwe.

By equipping treatment facilities with a fresh and unique recovery model, Dr. Nzuzu aims to enhance their ability to prevent relapses effectively.

Additionally, his focus on professional skills transfer will empower personnel to facilitate healing and transformation, leading to higher successful completion rates and reduced relapse rates.

Through mentoring and a linkages business program, previously affected individuals will receive support to start their own micro and small businesses, fostering self-employment opportunities and sustained recovery.

Dr. Nzuzu’s return to his homeland and the launch of the HTSS program marks a significant turning point in Zimbabwe’s battle against substance abuse.

With his expertise and innovative approach, he aims to empower individuals, rebuild families, strengthen communities, and contribute to the overall well-being of Zimbabwean society.

“Match Officials Frustrated Us” – Pirates

Chegutu Head coach Day Gutu has accused the match officials of frustrating his team in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the Heart Stadium on Saturday.

Gutu made the claims after a delayed kick-off against hosts Yadah where Pirates were made to wear an alternative kit, resulting in a kickoff delay of almost 30 minutes.

“Those who are supposed to protect us frustrated us before the match,” he claimed.

Gutu believes the kit they intended to wear was suitable for the game despite it clashing with Yadah FC’s colours.

The match which ended in a nil-all draw saw Yadah registering the first shot of the game inside the first minute through Blessed Ndereki.

Ten minutes later Chegutu Pirates broke out in midfield and hit a shot that didn’t look dangerous but the Yadah goalie, not sure about the strike, punched it over the bar.

Both teams continued to enjoy sharing the ball but with no goal in sight.

Just before half time Pirates had a chance from a dangerous free kick which was punched away by Marshal Takarinda.

In the 50th minute Yadah made a double substitution which ushered in Khama Billiat who was returning from injury.

His combination and understanding with King Nadolo was almost instant with Billiat creating a lot of movement in dangerous places but the goal remained elusive.
