#NAMA18: Government postpones NAMAs

The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) date has been moved again following a directive from the Government of Zimbabwe to cancel or postpone all government events.

Initially, the NAMAs were supposed to be held on 16 February 2019 and were moved to 23 March 2019 in a move that Zimbuzz suspected was a move to have a grand Tuku tributed at the HICC.

Due to the devastating effect of Cyclone IDAI which has claimed more than 100 lives in Chimanimani and other parts of the country, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts And Recreation has decided to cancel the award ceremony.

“The 18TH National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) date has been moved to 13 April 2019. As a Ministry, together with our parastatal the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, we took the decision based on the current national situation of the effects of the natural disaster, cyclone IDAI that have claimed lives and vastly destroyed properties,” read a statement from Minister Kirsty Coventry.

“Cognisant that we are a culture Ministry that values unhu/ubuntu, we saw it noble that we move the awards ceremony and join the rest of fellow Zimbabweans in assisting the affected families.

“My Ministry sincerely apologises to the Sector, Corporates, Events Manager AB Communication, the public and nation at large for inconveniences caused by this development.

We assure that the ceremony will be held accordingly as had been planned at Harare International Conference Centre,” said the Minister.

Meanwhile, voting for this year’s People’s Choice Award closes midnight closes at midnight on 22 March 2019

Poet Munnya features Cindy and Summer Rose in new Poem

My deepest longing for your presence bears no criminal intentions cause every macho of a man and kung fu fighter of a man can never stand ground let Alone take a chance with the arrows of Cupid but who am I to pose a threat and take a chance with the arrows of Cupid… I might as well be stupid.”

Reads the opening verse of Munnya’s poem titled 2 dimensions laden with complex imagery.

He paints a vivid mental picture as he uses graphic narratives to address the topic of a love-stricken man.

The man is unapologetic as he impactfully asserts his feelings through the use of decisive, direct and bold language outpouring his feelings.

/It kinda sucks though cause when you stuck in the friend zone it ain’t too much of a comfort zone cause /  how do you express yourself to someone who cares less on the way you feel let alone your well being for all you know you could be in a state of oblivion/

Inspired by Kelly Rowland’s song Be Gentle ft Tiziano Fero the poem is captured in visuals that features Zimbabwean personalities singer Cindy Munyavi and fragrance owner Summer Rose.

Munnya

“Cindy and Summer rose are talented souls from their beauty to personalities all of these defy logic, to be honest and they fit the moulds of what I was trying to portray,” explains Munnya on the signifcance of using the two’s images in the video.

The poet who says he already has about 20 other unpublished pieces explains how difficult it was coming up with poem 2 Dimensions

“The poem itself is about 1000 words long, 5 minutes of pure recitals so the time to record was just over 10 hours and a further 120 minutes editing..so you can imagine the stress the repetition and costs,” he said.

Marvel Apologises for Leaving Danai Gurira’s Name Off New Avengers Poster

Marvel has apologized for leaving Black Panther star Danai Gurira’s name off the top of the Avengers: Endgame poster.

All 13 actors of the main cast were displayed on the originally released poster, but only 12 names were credited.

Actress Danai Gurira’s name was left entirely out of the top billing, and instead cited in small font at the bottom credits.

You might not see at first glance, but fans did not take long to notice her name was missing.

Here’s the original poster.

Following outrage toward the studio’s decision to make the 41-year-old Zimbabwean-American actress the only character to appear on the poster but not have her name above it, Marvel quickly backtracked on Thursday.

“She should have been up there all this time,” said the studio’s official account, while issuing a new poster with Gurira’s name included.
