Ti Gonzi quotes ED as he blasts ZIMA Awards

Rapper Ti Gonzi has broken silence about his treatment by the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) where many feel he was robbed.

Ti Gonzi was nominated in Best Male, Best Hip Hop and was also nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration categories for the song Kure which he did with Ishan.

He walked away with no award.

Despite dominating with the year and winning Best Male at the Zim Hip Hop award, Gonzi lost the ZIMA Best hip hop to Takura.

And they was a sudden gush of fury and vitriol from his fans and music lovers alike as they blasted ZIMA for what they termed the greatest robbery.

Ti Gonzi was also listening and reading what the people were saying and he gave a response.

“The voice of the people is the voice of God.No matter how much they try, they will never lie to the masses/people,” wrote Ti Gonzi, quoting a phrase which was popularised by President ED when he rose to power in 2017.

“Ndirikuzviona hangu kuti ruzhinji (majority) rwevanhu harisi kufara but the work I put for the music industry (ZimHipHop) in 2019 does not need a panel to validate me. Like I said on my previous post, just the 4 nominations were a win for me coz it showed me where I am now.”

He congratulated all the winners but said he was dissapointed by the ZIMA organisers.

“..And to ZIMA honestly I am disappointed. My perception of ZIMA Awards has changed, had I known, I wouldn’t even let my management submit for the awards or even talk about it to my followers,” he added.
