Cindy Munyavi drops her latest single Handiende as she celebrates her birthday

Cindy Munyavi may be celebrating her birthday on Thursday 24 November but it’s the phenomenal star who is giving out the gifts.

As a thank-you treat to her fans, the songstress announced the release earlier this week and the song Handiende featuring Kae Chaps is here.

In Handiende Cindy brings in a new era of music while still keeping the qualities that made her famous ever since we have been hymning her praises from as far back as the early 2000s.

Anchoring itself securely on an addictive beat by Rayobeats, Handiende’s lyrics are poignant yet overflowing with charisma as she continues to strengthen her reputation as a vocalist who is genuinely in sync with her fans.

“This song speaks of kumagumo kwerudo, it’s a reflection of where a relationship is before the official breakup,” she explains.

Cindy says the song was inspired by Handiende which was done by the legendary musician Steve Makoni.

“I grew up listening to that song a lot and one day I was scrolling through old-school Zimbabwean classics and I bumped into Handiende and immediately reconnected with it.”

“I started to play it over and over again and at that moment I didn’t realize that I was internalizing the song. I then got a beat from Rayobeats and It was only after I finished the demo that I realised the song had been inspired by Steve Makoni,” Cindy further explained.

After recording the song Cindy would reach out to musician Steve Makoni who gladly gave his blessing for its release.

“He listened to the song and gave me great feedback together with his blessings, he is a very lovely man, full of wisdom, his wish was ‘I hope you make millions,” she said.

The song features the voice of the heartbreak king Kae Chaps who added his melancholic style to the record.

Handiende is a song that leaves you feeling at ease, as its breezy smoothness carries you away in ponder
