President Mnangagwa Pledges US$150,000 Per Win for Warriors in World Cup Qualifiers

In a significant boost for the Zimbabwe senior men’s national football team, the Warriors, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced a US$150,000 winning bonus for each victory in their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The team is set to face Benin on March 20 and Nigeria on March 25 in crucial matches that could determine their path to the 2026 World Cup.

The announcement, made on March 20, 2025, underscores the government’s commitment to supporting national football and the Warriors’ quest for World Cup qualification.

The bonus is in addition to the US$1 million already allocated by the government for the team’s participation in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Should the Warriors secure victories in both matches, they stand to earn an extra US$300,000.

The Warriors’ upcoming matches are pivotal in their campaign to qualify for the World Cup, and the financial incentive is expected to motivate the players and technical team.
