Zimbabwean super-comedian and NAMA winner Q Dube is bringing his sought-after show ‘I WISH I WAS JOKING’ to Harare.
Q Dube has been flying high at his base in South Africa where he has been hosting high-profile gigs and touring countries such as Botswana and Zambia.
The comedian who was recently featured in a star-studded Volkswagen South Africa advert will host his show at REPS Theatre on Friday 12 August 2022.
Promoters of the event Xtratime Entertainment said the show will signal the return of comedy events.
“As Xtratime we are bringing back laughter and smiles to our Zimbabwe audience after covid lockdowns in the past 2 years,” said Tongai Mbidzo of Xtratime Entertainment
“This is the beginning of a series of comedy nights, the aim being to plant a smile ‘Sekerera.’
Q Dube tells us his show has been doing great thus far.
“I just got a call from Zambia saying come back, Swaziland wants me as well, in South Africa I’m pretty much established now and I will be going to Botswana end of July,” he told Zimbuzz.
“I have been receiving lots of love from across the region and right now I feel I need to tape back into the market and also take care of my Zimbabwean audience.
“This is a personal tour for me.”
He also said he will be doing a few more shows across the country in places like Gweru, Victoria Falls and Bulawayo.
‘I WISH I WAS JOKING’ has broken some new ground for Q Dube and he says the reception he has received is heartwarming.
“I wish how other people could tell you, I have experienced standing ovations, it has been delicious,” he said.
The title of the show is hilarious on its own, and Q explains to us the reason behind it.
“I WISH I WAS JOKING’ is basically from everything I’m addressing in the comedy, from burying my grandmother to how black people relate to funerals, the Zimbabwe economy and politics among many other subjects,” he explained.
“It may seem like I’m joking but these are serious issues, though put into comedy.”
For those attending the Reps Theatre show in August, he has one promise.
“Come to the show and you will see why I should be in your top three best stand-up comedians in Zimbabwe.
