Reacting to his National Arts Council of Zimbabwe National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) nomination, comedian Tinaye Wayne couldn’t have been more comical.
Tinaye Wayne a 23-year-old budding Stand Up comedian paraphrased his excitement by saying ‘MaMa I Made It’. “Mama I have been nominated for NAMA 2018 as the Outstanding Comedian in Zimbabwe. Alhumdulila” he tweeted reacting to his maiden NAMA nomination.
It’s a tough contest for the youngster as he is in the same category with Bus Stop Tv’s Samantha Kureya aka Gonyeti and Mandlenkosi Mathe aka D Comedian.
Tinaye began his career in 2016 as a curtain-raiser to renowned and established comedians such as Carl Joshua Ncube, Doc Vikela and Q-Boss. That was a good test for the lad as a way of gaining confidence.
After having performed in a couple of shows Tinaye could take any opportunity availed even being a sole comedian at any show such as the German Society and Sopranos.
As he is pursuing his degree in Marketing at the University of Zimbabwe, he always hosts on-campus comedy shows during the semester.
“2017 was a remarkable year in my career as I performed at the much-hyped Shoko festival, HIFA and the Alfred Kainga show,” he said.
Tinaye is also the co-founder of Chipiri Night Comedy Show together with his counterpart Kadem.
The comedian automatical qualifies for the People’s Choice Award and voting is currently underway, check out the voting instruction here
