DStv Stream: A New Era of Family Entertainment and Connection

Increasing the amount of time families spend together is a key goal of the DStv stream platform, which ensures that content includes a range of viewing opportunities aimed at encouraging family groups to watch together.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe head of corporate affairs and public relations, Charity Njanji, said the thrust toward greater family viewing experiences was based on the belief that in the modern day too much time is spent apart, with loss of valuable shared family time.

“We want families to bond and one of the ways of doing this is to share viewing experiences with a range of shows that engage younger family members through education, creativity, technology and sport,” she said.

“DStv Stream offers content that helps bridge gaps between generations, encouraging parents to connect with their teens in meaningful ways.”

Today many teenagers watch entertainment on their own, so the planned creation of content that allows for this viewing to be done in company of other family members helps bring families together, especially if the viewed content leads to discussion and interaction.

In a traditional sense, a father and son streaming the latest football game or a mother and daughter bonding over a drama series helps connect them. And other streamed content expands viewing to the whole family together, which is even more exciting.

“With DStv Stream, families can enjoy top-tier entertainment without the need for a decoder or installation,” said Njanji.

“Audiences can stream live TV, catch up on favourite shows or download content for offline viewing, all on a wide range of devices. With multiple profiles and parental controls, parents can stay involved in what their children are watching while bonding over shared content.”

Parental control is key to ensuring the younger views stick to family-driven entertainment. DStv Stream has easy-to-use parental controls to ensure their teens and children are enjoying age-appropriate content.

Njanji said: “Set up is simple: select Kids on the profile page, enable Kids Lock and create a PIN in settings. It’s easy and offers great comfort for parents.”

The content available on DStv Stream is varied and exciting, ranging from the international drama to regionally-produced shows, from education to sport and from children’s programmes and quiz and game shows.

Simba Maintains Title Challenge, Pirates Sunk Deeper in Relegation

Matchday 28 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League ended on a high note, with the battle for the title still leaning toward Shamva as Tonderayi Ndiraya’s boys managed to secure a point away at Ngezi.

Manondo One Goal Clear

CAPS United striker William Manondo has increased his goal tally to 12, leading the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Golden Boot race.

He scored in his team’s 1-1 draw against Yadah FC, who were missing Khama Billiat due to a yellow card suspension.

Manica Held by Bikita

Jairos Tapera’s Manica Diamonds played to a goalless draw against struggling Bikita Minerals at Sakubva on Sunday.

Once perched at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership, Manica Diamonds now find their title hopes diminishing as they sit in fourth position with 43 points, tied with Ngezi, who have two games in hand.

Pirates on Their Way Out

Chegutu Pirates have managed only 20 points in 28 games, and TelOne compounded their misery by defeating them on Sunday at Baobab Stadium.

Blessing Sahondo’s solitary goal provided the WiFi boys with a crucial boost, as they too remain in danger of relegation.

Simba, Ngezi Share Spoils

Simba Bhora secured a draw against champions Ngezi Platinum Stars after the match ended goalless.

Although the result reduced Simba’s lead at the top, it was a respectable outcome considering they faced the defending champions, who are not willing to surrender easily.

The Shamva-based side now sits on 57 points, seven ahead of second-placed FC Platinum, who returned to winning ways by defeating Highlanders 1-0.

Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 28 Results:
FC Platinum 1-0 Highlanders

Herentals 1-2 Dynamos

Joburg Bangla Tigers are the Zim Afro T10 champions

Joburg Bangla Tigers have been crowned the 2024 Zim Afro T10 champions after they defeated Cape Town Samp Army off the very last delivery by just five runs in a thrilling final played at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

Samp Army won the toss and put Tigers in to bat.

Kusal Perera led the way, scoring 33 off 11 balls, with four sixes and a four, in an opening partnership of 59 in only 3.4 overs with Mohammad Shahzad.

Shahzad went on to make 44 off 25 balls, but after the score reached 97 in the eighth over wickets fell quickly in the search for quick runs, and the momentum was lost.

The innings ended at 129 for five, with Sikandar Raza not out with 12, having had too little time to make much of a mark on the innings.

Gordon Nicholson took two wickets for 10 runs in the final over, but overall Amir Hotak did well with one for 14 in his two overs.

Samp Army also made a very good start, although Brian Bennett and Dawid Malan were never quite able to match the feat of their opponents’ opening pair.

They put on 83 before the New Zealander Adam Milne returned to bowl the seventh over, which changed the course of the match, the over itself costing only six runs.

With his second ball he bowled out Bennett, who made 36 off 21 balls, and with his fourth he had Rohan Mustafa caught without scoring.

Jack Taylor joined Malan, and they hit well, but found themselves needing 21 runs to win off the final over, to be bowled by Tinashe Muchawaya, whose first over had cost 27 runs.

Taylor began with two sixes and a single, but Muchawaya kept his head and Malan for once couldn’t rise to the occasion, missing the fourth delivery and only getting a leg-bye off the fifth.

Taylor needed to hit a six off the final delivery to equal the scores and force a super over, but he could only get the ball away for a single, and the match and the tournament belonged to the Tigers.

Joburg Bangla Tigers – 129-5 in 10 overs (Mohammad Shahzad 44, Kusal Perera 33, Hazratullah Zazai 19; Nicholson Gordon 2/10, Amir Hotak 1/14, Qais Ahmed 1/24)

Cape Town Samp Army – 124-2 in 10 overs (Dawid Malan 62*, Brian Bennett 36, Jack Taylor 23*; Adam Milne 2/18)

Joburg Bangla Tigers won by five runs

George Munsey put on an absolute masterclass at the Harare Sports Club on Day 6 of the second season of the Zim Afro T10, as he scored the first century ever in the history of the competition which helped the Harare Bolts post a record total, and in the process knocked out the Durban Wolves.

After that the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers were clinical against the Bulawayo Brave Jaguars, and the NYS Lagos also put in a fine all-round performance to pick up an important win against the Cape Town Samp Army.

Batting first, the Harare Bolts made good use of the conditions, and started brightly. Lahiru Milantha (13) and Janishka Perera (24) scored freely in the initial overs, before George Munsey decided to take charge.

In the second game of the day, there were more runs of course, as the Jo’Burg Bangla Tigers’ top order put in a remarkable performance.
