Zimbabwe Hold Their Nerve to Edge South Korea in a Wet and Fiery Contest

The Zimbabwe Sables wrapped up their Asia tour with a gritty 27-22 victory over South Korea on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Incheon Namdong Asiad Rugby Field.

Despite challenging rainy conditions and a wet surface, the Sables displayed resilience to claim their seventh consecutive win of the year, maintaining coach Pieter Benade’s unbeaten streak as they prepare for the 2027 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.

South Korea put up a strong fight, particularly in the scrums, where they dominated and earned numerous penalties.

The hosts’ fullback, Kim Ki-Min, showcased excellent tactical kicking, consistently pinning the Sables deep in their territory.

Their rush defense also disrupted Zimbabwe’s backline, denying them clean possession and momentum.

Zimbabwe’s lineouts, however, proved reliable, thanks to veteran hooker Matthew Mandioma, who marked his 50th Sables cap with a stellar performance, finding his jumpers with precision.

The Sables began the game in style, with Ian Prior slotting an early penalty in the second minute to open the scoring.

Flanker Tinotenda Mavesera soon crossed the whitewash for the first try, which Prior converted, extending the lead to 10-0.

Vice-captain and eighthman Adrian Burnett then powered over for another try, pushing Zimbabwe to a commanding 17-0 lead.

South Korea responded with a penalty from Kim Ki-Min, followed by a converted try from prop Kang Sun-Hyuk, narrowing the deficit to 17-10 at halftime.

The second half began with another Prior penalty, stretching Zimbabwe’s lead to 20-10.

However, South Korea struck back through scrum-half Lee Gun, who darted over for a converted try.

Zimbabwe regained momentum with a moment of brilliance from utility back Brandon Mudzekenyedzi, who broke the line before setting up Mavesera for his second try, completing a brace.

The hosts refused to back down, as replacement prop Kim Han-Seok bulldozed over for a late try after sustained pressure. South Korea camped in Zimbabwe’s 22 during the dying moments, but the Sables held firm, forcing a knock-on that sealed a hard-fought victory.

This win underscores Zimbabwe’s growing form and determination as they gear up for next year’s crucial qualifiers.

How Much Did Mike Tyson & Jake Paul Earn in Their High-Stakes Fight?

0

Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in an eight-round heavyweight match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday.

All three judges scored the fight for Paul, 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

The fight, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, was contested at 2-minute rounds, and both fighters wore 14-ounce gloves instead of the regular 10-ounce gloves for heavyweight fights.

Tyson, 58, and Paul, 27, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, were scheduled to meet on July 20, but the fight was postponed after Tyson received medical attention during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May for an ulcer flare-up.

How much was Mike Tyson paid for the fight?

Regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, 58-year-old Mike Tyson has an estimated net worth of $10 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

That is a modest sum compared with the hundreds of millions of dollars “Iron Mike,” as he is known, accumulated in career earnings, including $400 million in fight purses, according to Forbes.

Over the last decade, Tyson has also fought his way back after filing for bankruptcy in 2013 at the age of 37.

Though promotors did not reveal exactly how much Tyson earned for Friday’s fight, reports from online sources, including DraftKings Network, estimate he’ll make around $20 million.

How much was Jake Paul paid for the fight?

Jake Paul, 27, is set to earn $40 million, according to an estimate from DraftKings Network and other sources — double what Tyson is expected to receive for the fight.

A simple explanation for that may be that Paul, a top social influencer with 27 million followers on Instagram alone, is also co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the company promoting the extravaganza in partnership with Netflix.

His net worth is estimated at $80 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

With a 10-1 fight record, mostly against mixed martial artists and other pro-boxing newcomers under his belt, Paul, a former child star and YouTube prankster who began his boxing career in 2018, does not lack confidence — or showmanship.

Cimas iGo Half Marathon Brings Zimbabwe Together for Men’s Health

0

The spirit of camaraderie, wellness, and purpose will be on full display as CIMAS Health Group gears up for its annual Cimas iGo half-marathon, set to take place in Harare on November 17 and Bulawayo on November 24.

This year’s event is about inspiring men to take charge of their health as the marathon aligns with the global Movember initiative, focusing on men’s health issues, including prostate and testicular cancer awareness.

Under the theme “Men’s Health Champions Build Healthier Communities,” the marathon aims to spotlight the importance of men prioritising their well-being.

This focus aligns with Movember, a global awareness month dedicated to men’s health.

Mr. Vuli Ndlovu, Chief Executive Officer of Cimas Health Group, passionately described the initiative’s impact: “In recognition of Men’s Health Awareness Month, also known as Movember, a global movement focused on raising awareness around men’s health issues, Cimas Health Group is proud to host the Cimas iGo half marathon to bring attention to prostate cancer and other men’s health concerns.”

The marathon is open to all members of the public, whether they are competitive runners, health enthusiasts, or supporters of this vital cause.

Starting with the 21km race at 5:30 AM, followed by a 10km race at 6:00 AM, and a 5km race at 6:30 AM, the event will accommodate athletes of various fitness levels.

Registrations can be made online through Cimas, with a US$15 fee that covers a race pack, including a T-shirt, string bag, and a medal to commemorate the runners’ dedication to wellness.

Reflecting on last year’s success, Mr. Ndlovu shared, “Last year’s Cimas iGo half marathon was oversubscribed, and US$13,753 was raised. The money was donated to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, reaffirming our commitment to the fight against cancer, which remains one of the leading health challenges not only in Zimbabwe.”

The funds raised from this year’s event will again support the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, with every step taken contributing to vital awareness and aid for those impacted by cancer.

Mr. Ndlovu touched on a key issue: traditional stigma around men discussing their health and seeking medical help.

Cimas Health Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Vuli Ndlovu

“Traditionally, men have been reluctant to seek medical help or discuss health issues openly, fearing it might be seen as a sign of weakness. However, breaking this stigma in Movember is crucial, as open communication is essential for wellbeing,” he said.

The marathon embodies a positive shift toward building an open dialogue on health, empowering men to take proactive steps for their well-being.

While the race champions men’s health, Cimas Health Group emphasises that this is a movement everyone can support.

“As we join the global Movember movement to raise awareness for men’s health, let’s not forget the important role women can play in supporting their partners’ wellbeing, encouraging them to prioritize their health, and fostering a culture of openness,” said Mr. Ndlovu.

He also noted the critical health issues men face, including prostate and testicular cancer, mental health challenges, and lifestyle-related conditions like hypertension and diabetes.

Through the Cimas iGo wellness programme, which includes regular health screenings and fitness events, Cimas Health Group is working to create an environment that prioritizes health in the community.

This marathon, as Mr. Ndlovu explained, “is designed to encourage both physical fitness and motivate men to take control of their health.”

The popular Zimbabwean Afro-acoustic group, once known as Gwevedzi, has evolved into “Gwevedzi Redefined” with the addition of a female vocalist, Matandala Leeanne Rukato.

This exciting new chapter introduces a fresh, soulful dimension to their music while maintaining their signature Afro-fusion style.

The updated lineup now features Tinashe Masangudza on guitar, Wilfred Nikisi on bass, Matandala on lead vocals, and Keith Musena on drums.

The group is eagerly preparing to release their new single, “Rise,” featuring Matandala’s vocals.

Silabaziso Chuka, spokesperson for the band, shared the group’s journey: “We are excited to be launching this new single soon. We come from a place where we lost one of our members, but through courage, love, and resilience, we’ve risen above the challenges.”

She emphasized that “Rise” is a tribute to their journey and a message of hope.

Since forming in Harare in 2016, Gwevedzi has carved out a unique sound that blends Zimbabwean musical influences from icons like Oliver Mtukudzi and Leonard Dembo while keeping an unmistakable Afro-fusion vibe.

Now, with Matandala’s soulful contribution, Gwevedzi Redefined is expanding its appeal beyond Zimbabwe’s borders, aiming to capture audiences across Africa and the world.

Chuka expressed the band’s vision for unity through music: “Our quest is to harmonize people through our music.”

The group’s name, Gwevedzi, reflects this purpose; in Shona, it represents a suitor’s role in strengthening bonds in a courtship. Gwevedzi Redefined sees music as a bridge between people, and their new direction will further reinforce this mission.

The group has released two albums to date, Tsambo, which features popular tracks like “Vhunze,” “Daira Ndikuone,” and “Bvuma Tiyemerane,” and Nhungo (2020), which includes fan-favorites “Malaicha” and “Ndinouya.”

They’ve also graced festivals such as the Jacaranda Music Festival and earGROUND’s Amplifaya Festival.

Gwevedzi Redefined has also built a following across the region with performances in South Africa and Mozambique, expanding their influence and connecting with new fans.

As the group steps forward into this new era, they’re set on claiming their place in the music industry with a refined sound, a strengthened lineup, and a powerful message.

Ivory Medical Unveils CannaQure, Zimbabwe’s First Medicinal Cannabis Line

In an exciting leap forward for healthcare innovation, Ivory Medical recently introduced its new medicinal cannabis line, CannaQure, at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.

This launch event gathered Zimbabwe’s top health professionals, industry leaders, and members of the press, unveiling what could be a groundbreaking shift in therapeutic options for Zimbabweans dealing with chronic pain, stress, and sleep issues.

CannaQure’s offerings are carefully crafted to harness the potential of cannabidiol (CBD), the non-psychoactive component of cannabis known for its wide-ranging benefits without causing any intoxicating effects.

The focus is clear: these products are about wellness, not altering consciousness, making them a viable, non-addictive alternative for those seeking relief outside conventional pharmaceuticals.

Ivory Medical’s commitment to quality, ensured by strict adherence to the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe’s standards, gives patients a safe, reliable option in their journey toward health.

Ivory Medical’s General Manager, Nash Kadzinga, emphasized that CannaQure isn’t merely a product line—it’s a symbol of Zimbabwe’s healthcare evolution.

“This launch is more than an introduction of a new product; it is a milestone in Zimbabwe’s healthcare evolution,” said Nash Kadzinga.

CannaQure embodies our vision to provide safe, effective, and accessible medicinal cannabis products that meet the needs of patients looking for alternative treatments. Today, we are proud to offer people a reliable, natural, and scientifically grounded option.”

Globally, the medicinal use of cannabis has seen a rapid rise in acceptance as patients increasingly explore holistic and non-traditional treatment routes. The CannaQure launch is a response to this trend, bringing Zimbabwe into the fold of countries that recognize cannabis’s potential as a therapeutic tool.

Education and Transparency at the Core

A central theme of the event was demystifying medicinal cannabis, with experts presenting the science supporting its use and debunking common misconceptions.

Those who attended walked away with a deeper understanding of how CannaQure’s products can safely integrate into their health routines, improving daily life without the stigma historically associated with cannabis.

Ivory Medical’s educational approach is pivotal. The company is dedicated not just to providing quality products but also to fostering an informed healthcare community that views cannabis as a valid treatment option.

“Our focus on education, transparency, and quality is at the core of our mission, “Nash Kadzinga continued. “We believe that with CannaQure, we can lead a new era of healthcare in Zimbabwe—one where patients have a choice and nature’s remedies enhance their wellness.”

A New Choice for Patients

With the launch of CannaQure, Zimbabweans now have the chance to explore a treatment grounded in nature but backed by science.

As public interest in alternative treatments grows, CannaQure stands out as a reliable, professionally developed option that respects traditional healthcare while offering something new.

For Zimbabwe’s patients, this means greater choice in managing health challenges and, ultimately, a path toward enhanced wellness.

Ivory Medical’s CannaQure could very well be the start of a transformative chapter in Zimbabwean healthcare, one that blends innovation, education, and a return to natural roots in the pursuit of well-being.
