Old Georgians retained to the top of the summit of the super six league after beating Harare sports club 21-16 in a fiercely contested derby at the Machinery Exchange rugby ground.
Harare sports club dominated the early exchanges grabbing two unconverted tries by Lucky Sithole and Prince Ncube.
OGs reduced the deficit through a try by fullback David Woolls but fly-half Jerry Jaravazi failed to add the extras pushing his kick wide.
Woolls proved to be thorn in the flesh of HSC defence , whenever ever he had the ball he would gain vital territory with his dazzling runs.
Sports club extended their lead 13-05 through a close range penalty by Tadius Whata. The Groombridge based side managed to claw back into the match through the boot of Jaravazi slotting home two penalties levelling the scores 13-13.
OGs finished the half stronger when hooker David Makamba budged over the white wash for their third try of the match and was not converted once more and went to the shed leading 18-13.
HSC denominated the second stanza both territory and possession as they spent it most was deep in the OGs 22 meter line.
They turned out to be their own worst enemy as they failed to utilize several overlaps which would have got them over the line.
HSC only managed to score 3 points courtesy of Whata penalty while Old Georgians released some pressure with a close-range penalty which Jaravazi managed to put it in between the two sticks.
OGs hang on for a famous victory and inflicting revenge as they lost 3 times last year to Old Georgians.
