The Boss off to interrogate UK fashion

Zimbabwe’s fiercest style investigator  Tafadzwa The Boss Zimoyo has left for the United Kingdom, for a fashion extravaganza and showcase to be held in Birminghamingham.

He will be representing the Fashion Journalists at the Zimbabwe Fashion Showcase which is Birmingham’s biggest Afrocentric style appear.

This year it’s themed Redefinition.

As far back as that famed Zimbabwe Music Awards fashion review, which appears to have shot him to amazing heights,it has ended up hard to disregard what the man thinks or writes  as far as dressing is concerned

He is one individual who gives his assessment with no idea whether he will get welcomed back to the next event or not.

That’s just him.

With the Lake July DJ celebration commencing this week, that implies the Boss will pass up a great opportunity for the prominent occasion. It was going to intriguing to see what he was going to say as far as Lakeside fashion is concerned.

The Boss at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards

Earlier this year he missed the Zimdancehall Awards to go and attend the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards in Nigeria and those that chose to dress weirdly at the dancehall awards got a pass.

Even though we are yet to be privy to what he is going to wear on the red carpet, we know the Boss has a set of immutable fashion rules and we shall wait to have our social media news feed get dominated by pictures.

5 Reasons why you Should NOT watch 8L’s video Mainini

So rapper 8L dropped the video to chart-topping hit Mainini which features erstwhile dancehall star Tocky Vibes.

Now you are wondering why we are discouraging you from watching the video..Ok, I will tell you why.

It’s a Thirst Trap, yes a trap to make you feel envious,green-eyed,heartburnt,invidiousness…basically it will leave you with a severe feeling of jealousy and dislike for self.

Here is the evidence.

#1.  The girl with a round behind

13700229_1348830061797781_2357109652668892836_n

This girl has an ‘O’ shaped ass, O as in OMG! The only reason this girl was put in the video was to make both men and women jealousy. Those were her strict instructions and she delivered. She is naturally designed with more cushion than needed just for sitting.

#2. 8L just wanted to show off his Light Up LED Shoes

13781684_1349600421720745_4562937605079917994_n

Another trap was 8L’s light-up and glow-in-the-dark sneakers that were popping up in the video just to make you feel bad about your shoes. But 8L for the why, though?

#3. A lot of Mercs just to spite your Toyota

13726794_1345572735456847_3450835673200678215_n

This was a very bold BOSSY statement right to your face. Ok, I know they were not the very top of the range Mercs but the intent is very clear.

A Mercedes-Benz is surmised in one statement: “The Best or Nothing.” It has its long history of bringing new technology innovations to market. And that was his message to you, “I’m the best”

Oh!! You thought those cars were just randomly picked on availability? It was a statement.

#4. All his vana Mainini are too much (Vakanyanya)

13627041_1350544674959653_8610465893211687718_n

Again here he induces that envy in us,showing that his family is a very dependable source for all things hot. He proves this by putting all the hotness in one place just to suck all the cold air in the room and leave you drooling. It was all assets on display.

Team Zimbabwe’s Hollywood success: How it all happened

Zimbabwe sent 4 participants to the World Championships of Performing Arts for the first time in our history with guitarist  Sylent Nqo getting 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals whilst Award winning beatboxer Probeatz won 7 gold medals and Model Timothy Hogo won one gold medal, one silver and one bronze.

But what is the World Championships of Performing Arts

The World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) is the first and only international competition to find and crown the best aspiring performing artists worldwide. This competitive contest which is held annually in Hollywood, California is often referred to as the “Olympics of the Performing Arts”

Here’s how they got to Hollywood

Team manager Zaza narrates the journey

Every year I take on a new challenge and it is always centred on the promotion of our local artists this year saw me join and help launch the Zimbabwe Championships Of Performing Arts, ZICOPA.

The World championships of Performing Arts were a new concept that Noone had ever heard of. So as the ground work began of introducing who we were and what we stood for, and being completely self-funded shocked many people.

However due to the economic crisis and high fees that the competition required we lost some of our contestants which was very heartbreaking for us. In my case, it was particularly sad,  because these were artists I had recruited and knew that the level of talent would blow Hollywood expectations.

Reality set in that with only two months to fundraise, we would most likely have a small team. One of the bright moments though was having the support of the US Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Mr Harry Thomas Jr who had prior knowledge of the World championships.

Visiting the corporate world was a nightmare, as most companies were taking up financial positions to manage the cash crisis. Meaning there were unable to assist our team. Few individuals like businessman Mr Biggie Chinoperekwei and his wife  bought into the vision and gave us financial assistance.

It has been an incredible journey, filled with a mixture of excitement, challenges,  heartbreaks, joy and relief. When we launched ZICOPA many people were skeptical and could not fathom that we could actually operate on the global scale we were talking about, let alone take a team to Hollywood to represent the country.

Did Davido just grabbed Tinashe’s boobs?

Nigerian vocalist Davido ,who in his short career has snatched a great deal of gongs, seems to have aced the craft of getting as he was found on camera seeming, by all accounts, to be snatching Tinashe’s boobs.

Lets get touchy...Davido and Tinashe
Let’s get touchy…Davido and Tinashe

Gracious hold up!!!! It’s shot from a music video in a comfortable position at the shoreline side area where the music video was being recorded.

However, our Zimbabwean beauty is by all accounts getting a charge out of all of it,as she is seen laying cosily on his mid-section.

We await to see whether it was a stray hand or think grab of the boob

The off-camera photographs were posted on Davido’s snap chat, meanwhile, the long rumoured collaboration is titled ‘How Long’

Mmmmmm, simply thinking just ‘How Long’ Davido’s hand kept focused mid-section (That’s me and my envy self)

Tinashe has since shared the snippet of the song on her twitter account.

Exclusive: Xndr and Zaleekhah open up on break up

We can confirm it. They split up..Hip Hop’s Power Couple Zaleekah and Xndr split up..and of course they did it with a hashtag #AboutAyearAgo.

Xndr and Zaleekhah
Xndr and Zaleekhah

It was an eventful day yesterday in Splitsville, Kicked off with numerous phone calls and “Have you seen it yet”

Then they started raining, the screen shots, the cryptic Facebook posts by our Favourite Celebrity Couple that sent haters into a frenzy and sympathisers into “aww what happened…”

The haters, of course, have already started with Faux pas names like Romeo and Julie and Subliminal statuses that are very very clever.

They is even a hashtag #ThisBreakUp

Of course, everyone wants to know

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED to probably the most visual and vocal social media/Celebrity couple we have know for the past 12 months.

Zimbuzz got hold of them and below is what each had to say.

Xndr’s explanation

She broke up with me yesterday (18 July) on our One year anniversary, tried to speak to her but she had already made up her mind. So I left her alone. Anything that I have that she bought is a gift including the laptop she got me for my birthday last December.

I haven’t spoken to her ever since she broke up with me, she’s reached out to my family and friends but we haven’t spoken.

She is blocked on all my social media. She made her decision and I respected it and respect her privacy.

Friends have suggested I unblock her but that won’t change anything because she broke up with me.

So why did you break up

I think that’s an answer we would both want to know. I’m just staying in my lane according to the request that was made. Sad turn of events but one shouldn’t force things.

Judging from my last conversation with her, I wasn’t good enough and she was unhappy, so I didn’t fight her request to break up much because there is nothing worse than holding onto someone you love deeply but you are the reason they are unhappy.

Zaleekhah’s explanation

When you meet someone and fall in love you are convinced you have found your forever mate.

No-one ever plans to break up but here we are. After almost a year together, we have decided to end our relationship.

This is an incredibly difficult decision for both me and Alexander as we have shared more in our time together than most would share in a lifetime. As we both pick up the pieces of our hearts I pray that we heal and find peace.

As our relationship was in the public eye we feel it’s important to let everyone know that no one fought for us harder than we did. We would kindly ask for compassion and respect for privacy as we try to put this chapter of our lives behind us.

So why did you break up?

We had our differences that we could not get past.

At Zimbuzz we shall be very saddened by favourite couple’s split as this one got us right in the feels. It’s sad that we won’t see them matching on the red carpet anymore or these other exclusive parties.

EXCLUSIVE: How Lady Squanda allegedly duped comedian Skimbo

After a pitiful and stunning video of Lady Squanda striking humorist Skimbo became a web sensation Saturday, the casualty has described to Zimbuzz how he was allegedly taken from his home.

Skimbo
Skimbo

“Lady Squanda came to my home in Zengeza on Wednesday around 4 pm in the company of two other men saying she wanted to do a collaboration with me,” he told Zimbuzz.

“It was then that they said the instrumental/riddim was in the car and they invited me into the car to have a listen.

“When i entered the car, they drove off and went to an area in Zengeza 5 where they where other men sitting tight for me who numbered between 9 to 10,” said Skimbo.

Zimbuzz asked Skimbo why it had taken him long to report the case to the police and this is what he said

“I delayed going to the police because i was waiting for them (Lady Squanda) to release the video because it carried all the evidence, but even before the video was released i went to the police to get a medical report because i realised my right ear was having problems hearing and i suspected it had a blood clot.”

Skimbo has however made a police report concerning his assault.

About #ThisFlag and our Celebrities

Do famous people ought to stand up on political and/or moral issues?

Does their place in the spotlight imply that their supposition ought to be heard and esteemed?

Does each celebrity have an obligation to take a stand in opposition to social shameful acts?

Zimbabwe Flag

These were some of the questions that were doing rounds in our heads as our Facebook and Twitter feeds were dominated by ordinary people expressing their views on the arrest of Pastor Evan Mawarire.

As most Zimbabwean celebrities decided to be unceremoniously silent all through the Pastor Evan trial they took a severe battering on social media from their angry fans.

But there are those brave few who made their positions very clear, they tweeted, facebooked and even went to the court.

Well , let’s stop for a moment and think , What is a celebrity ? A well-known person? A well-accomplished person? A celebrated person??

One thing we know for sure is that they are a person who has a following , what they wear , how they speak influences their followers.

Stunner generated that whole sunglasses inside trend, Winky D solidified Rasta locks, Fungisai a picture pose.

If they jump on a trend everyone gets on it. ( remember Zviuta ?)

But very few have spoken for or against #ThisFlag …what could this mean ? Are they unbothered and unmoved? Is it none of their business ?

Do they not have Thoughts on the matter at all?

The bigwigs pretended that life is normal, that everything was still Selfies and Turn up. They were neutral, and its sad, world over Celebs stand for wat they believe is Right even if it’s Wrong.

America’s big black celebrity names have endeavoured to utilise their impact and popularity to reveal insight into one of that nation’s most sensitive issue of race.

The year 2014 to 2016 has been damaged by the various instances of police ruthlessness and state-endorsed brutality against Black individuals—the most unmistakable being the  passings of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Tamir Rice.

Many songs were released by prominent black artists, and many celebrities expressed their opinions about police brutality on black people

They stood up for something and said something.

Remember Heal the world? Remember Chris Brown and the Africa vs Ebola situation. Heck, right now Trevor Noah is on that Shootings tip. And here , in a country knee deep in Civil outcry all u hear is crickets from the celebrity island.

Is your reach limited to just which club we should hop to, how can u push your music/movie/video at such a time as this?

How can you not add your voice to what you believe in, and strengthen it ? Get us right all we are saying is You are either For Something or Against it … #ThisFlag or #NoFlag at all ………Just tell us which Dammit

About Sharky’s album launch: The one moment that caught my attention

Saturday 25 June will be remembered for a lot of things. some will remember it as a night that one boy from Chitungwiza named Sharky, dared to dream and fire what could be the first shots towards the liberation of Zim Hip Hop.

Everything that could have gone right went right. The album and the performance were pure majestic.

Sharky
Sharky

Here’s how I will remember it:

In the week preceding Sharky’s album launch,my facebook timeline was literally littered with a lot of support messages for the Soko Matemai album launch.

I was amazed as to how the family of hip-hop could summon their collective influence all for that one young man Sharky.

I remember asking someone why Sharky was liked so much, especially by those who are supposed to be his competition.

I still don’t know up now.

So I took it as my mission as I braced the chilly Saturday temperatures and went to Motto Republik for the Soko Matemai launch

The Hip Hop family turned up. From as far as Luveve there were there.

That Moment which caught my attention

I arrived at Motto Republik around 1807 the first person that I saw was Tehn Diamond he was seated in the second row on the third chair all by himself.

Tehn Diamond looked like he was having a deep conversation with himself, fellow artists and fans would come and greet him but he was not up for chit chats.

I hesitated to greet him,in fact, i didnt, I wanted to observe him from a distance.

I was convinced Tehn Diamond was worried about something and was eager to find out.

By this time other people were seated in his row but he still maintained his nonchalant stance, for a good 16 minutes he was staring at the stage.

As soon as Sharky went on stage,he rose just like everyone else but this time, he was wondering about the stage from left to right, what’s wrong with Tehn I kept asking myself?

Later on, I was to learn from someone that He was Sharky’s mentor. And eventually, everything made sense.

I will remember Tehn Diamond’s imprint on Zim Hip Hop from this experience.

There was a moment during the performance that Sharky really looked tired and could have easily stopped his performance.

Tehn Diamond sensed this, rushed to the right side of the stage, signalled something to Sharky, repeated the signal three times to make sure Sharky understood it.

Sharky understood he was being told to soldier on, and it was from that moment that I realised I was watching the best solo Hip-Hop act ever done in this country.

This was a shining moment of brotherhood at its pinnacle.

M-NET introduces new movie channel – M-Net Movies Smile!

From 1 July, M-Net will launch a brand new, feel-good movie channel – M-Net Movies Smile, which will offer plenty of chuckles for the entire family.

MM SMILE CLEAN

As the name signals, this is the channel guaranteed to make viewers smile.

What’s more, the month of July will also bring with it new changes that include the revamp of M-Net Movies Showcase.

The addition of M-Net Movies Smile (DStv channel 105) and the revamp of M-Net Movies Showcase (moving from DStv channel 108 to 107) will mean that three of the existing movie channels – M-Net Movies Comedy (DStv channel 104), M-Net Movies Family (DStv channel 105) and M-Net Movies Romance (DStv channel 107) will no longer exist.

“DStv  fans of these channels should not despair as the content previously available on these three channels will be consolidated into the new M-Net Movies Smile and the revamped M-Net Movies Showcase channels to ensure that viewers continue to enjoy their favourite movie genres” said Liz Dziva, Public Relations and  Publicity Manager for MultiChoice Zimbabwe.

What’s more, DStv will further add more value to the Compact Plus and Compact packages with the addition of M-Net Movies Stars which will bring viewers more entertainment with the best of Hollywood blockbusters.

DStv Compact subscribers will also get an exciting treat when M-Net City (DStv channel 115) and M-Net Movies Action (DStv channel 110) elevate their viewing experience to new, picture-perfect heights when the channels start simulcasting in High Definition.

These channel changes are part of M-Net’s efforts to streamline and sharpen channels in order to enhance DStv subscribers’ viewing experience.

From July onwards, the number of movie channels will be trimmed down from nine to seven, well-curated movie channels that will feature a fewer number of older library movies in the schedule to keep the movie offering new and fresh.
